This flood is both the result of the freak weather AND also down to the fact that the National Electricity company are holding the gates closed in the lock as its a source of cheap power, poor drainage, and a road that supposed to be raised 2 years ago. Slighty off topic but We still have a hose pipe ban on the island, and as soon as it came into force i checked up on what you can do, thankgod you can still use the hose to clean stuff with. So i go and clean down the ferret cage, and i hear this really really annoying voice comming from next door. "Your not supposed to be using hoses..." And so i explain that i have checked what you can and cant do, and what i was doing was perfectly legal. She walks back into her house in a huff, i carry on cleaning. a couple of days later i get this letter from my council saying that someone had reported me for illeagal use of my hose!!!!! Meh, stupid cow, i thought. two weeks later im hosing down again, couple of days after i get another letter, again saying the same thing. So i call the council and explain to them what im actually doing, and they say 'yep ok thats fine, we shall ignore any correspondance from that particular person.' Yet i get another one.....and another... for the past 2 months its been fine, no letters, nothing, but guess what landed on my door mat yesterday morning!?!?!?
