Guest Geneb
is it possible to tune an N/a or is it just plugs and Filters. in the days of Carbs u could tune the car and stuff like that. can u do anything like that on the supe N/A?
JohnA
Despite your inability to spell, you've got the essence already in the thread title - which is far more than most of the other n/a owners here. Yes, it is just plugs and filters. Tuning it for power will be expensive and unrewarding (i.e. money down the drain)
iain2010
Decat, exhaust, filter, plugs & a manifold. After that it does become a bit more expensive With the above mods on a sweet engine you would be looking at around 235BHP
blitz supra
This Helps As well as a decent exhaust, My NA is manual 0-60 6 secs... quick enough for me (for the moment)
JohnA
I'm afraid that intake pipe does absolutely nothing for times or power. Time the car with and without it, and you'll see. If it was to make any difference at all, it would have to be sealed to the intake - probably have the filter inside the wing, exposed to the ambient airflow. Nic
A modification worth considering would be a tubular manifold, this should give around a 10hp improvement. This combined with a full decat and performance exhaust, is about the limit of the tuning that can be done to the NA without spending big money. Here are some pics of the one that I sell. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8473/p1030161sa4.jpg http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1831/p1030162uk1.jpg http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/7632/dsc00305dl3.jpg http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/1738/dsc00307xs0.jpg http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/3957/dsc00312gm4.jpg http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/1491/dsc00313hh4.jpg
JohnA
Ah, nice exhaust. It should release some horses - not sure if the intake will need some tweaking though.
iain2010
Ive got one of these and can confirm that the build quality is second to none!
Max Headroom
RSR Exhaust, 2nd Decat, STOCK airbox and getting 220bhp is not bad for a 13 yr old car and looking to go fully decat with header to get a bit more is all I shall be doing. Uprate your suspension and brakes to improve andling and stopping. You can go faster round corners and brake later into tight turns. I would turn your HKS Mushroom into a nice door stop, it would be more useful

Was just quoting my Supe has a good 0-60 time but its a Manual, For some reason my Supe runs guttless and flat with stock Air box and pipe ... odd i know but have had both on and off a few times now , The most noticeable improvement is the new Hardpipe Turbofit knocked up for me (worth every penny) , It makes "my car" so much more responsive with instant pick up from 3500rpm instead of winding it up to the NA magic 5500rpm, We are going to do a little delving when shes next in for service as i appear to have "a quick one" so we will see what else was done to it in Japan before it came over, First glances it is just my Air intake system and exhaust, but having driven some 12 - 13 other NA's (mostly Autos) this is a lively one ... lucky me .. LOL!!!
