I'm sure they've made some great music. I just don't get it.

bit like me and the scissor sistors lol - actually I can tollerate them but in 10 years I'm pretty sure I could guess who will still be famous and regularly in the top best bands/albums of all time list :)

I inherited my love of the Beatles, Classical music, ELP and the Oscar Peterson Trio from Mum and Dad. Led Zep and other heavy stuff came along once I'd left school. I was introduced to Pink Floyd by my first real girlfriends parents, and have loved them ever since. Favorite PF LP is Relics (sexual awakening nostalgia), with DSOTM close second. Some of Dave Gilmours solo stuff is quite good, but a little 'samey'. Pink Floyd is still one of the great pleasures in my life.

Dont want to be over critical of my favourite group, but I wasnt to sure about the backing females - certainly (in my opinion) not as good as the MacBroom sisters (not Scottish by the way - at least I dont think so !!) of the late 70's era. Watch the Venice Tour and you'll see what I mean - there voices are absolutely amazing

cheers

I wasn't born in the 70s and I'm not that keen on concept albums.

You like the scissor sisters.... :rlol: - thats where you killed the discussion completely.....

smiley or no smiley - the mere thought of bringing them up in a Pink Floyd thread....blasphemous :D

Did you mean late '80's '90's?

One of the McBrooms was Durga, aka Blue Pearl, who did a version of Running Up That Hill, kate Bush, discovered by Gilmour ,ooh circular linking.

Sam Brown (Gilmour played guitar on her first single) was doing a fair bit of screeching for "Great Gig" but to give her credit, she sang it all in one go, whereas Clare Torry's part was assembled from hundreds of takes on the actual album.

(Coming across as a bit geeky now)

I once blew my chances with a hottie at University due to my Floyd geekiness. Girl called Suzie, massive tits, tiny waist and long legs, dirty as fuck, we started to get on well and she "kinda" asked me out. At one point the conversation turned towards music and the Floyd, she said she liked them, I returned with something like "Really? next wednesday is the 31st anniversary of the release of their single "Arnold Layne"

We never went out.

.

Could have been the 80's, Rob, my memory is getting worse as i'm getting older.

As to being geeky, that helps when you listen to and watch the early PF (especially PF @ Pompeii)

I think it also helps if your on DRUGS.

Cheers

I think it also helped if you were on drugs, during their physcadelic stage. Seamus was a great track too.

I dont know if this concert was ever released on VHS or DVD, I recorded it from the TV years and years ago, but i would say its the best PF recording i've seen.

cheers
