silvershark44
Ok I know this might not be everyones cup of tea, but myself and my best friend have some time off over christmas. We used to do a lot of fishing growing up when we at school, but havent done it years. We want to do some good pike fishing this winter, however, bit out of touch with where to go as the 2 of the lakes we used to fish are no privately owned and closed off. We live in Lincolnshire, but are prepared to travel a reasonable distance for somewhere good to go. Still have all the gear, rod pods, bite alarms etc, just need a good venue thats not too overfished with some monsters. So any anglers out there want to let us know the best spots?? colsoop
I used to go alot I was mainly in to the Carp fishing myself. I used to love summer, stalking the fish and free lining a bit of dog biscuit When i lived in Norfolk a place near me called Swanton Morley somebody pulled a dead pike out of the water that weighed 42lb, it had a 7lb carp in its mouth thew silly thing had choked on it own meal I think the Fens have a fairly good reputation for producing big fish. Rutland water, buy one of the angling mages and have a look in it they normally recommend waters to fish, or see where the big fish are being caught (named in the articles). A mate of mine used to get permission to fish trout and salmon fisheries as they held monster pike due to a large amount of prey for the pike to feed on, however they were lazy and hard to catch as it was easy for them. Good luck.
silvershark44
Cheers mate, good advice there, i like the storey about the Norfolk pike, 42lbs is massive! Would be nice to land something like that. I think Norfolk broads have always had a good reputation for pike.

bungy
Bit of a fluff chucker myself but have always fancied a bit of pike fishing. Some do it with a fly. Must be awesome.
