Rev Limit of 2500rpms is saftey (limp home) mode on the ECU, you will usually get a high idle aswell. It could possibly be an AFM problem, but check all the vacum pipes etc etc as these can also cuase this problem.

In order to clear the ECU you usually need to Remove earth from battery for 24hrs or Press the brake pedal several times to remove any residual power in the system.

To check for codes toy need access to the ECU. It in the passenger footwell, pull back the carpet and remove the panel. You'll need to unbolt the ECU as the LED faces away from you.

Switch the Ignition on (dont start)

Turn the small selector screw clockwise slowly all the way. Wait a few seconds, and screw back again.

The LED with start flashing

long flash = digit1 short flash = digit 2

so 1 long and 2 short would be a code 12

Codes are :

11 Crankshaft position Sesnor

12 MAF sesnor circuit (air flow meters)

13 Coolant temp sensor circuit

14 Speed sensor circuit

21 Igintion circuit

31 ECU

34 Knock sensor circuit

43 Throttle position circuit

45 Injector leak

51 Ignition Circuit

54 Auto signal to ECU

55 ALL OK

If you can, try and find someone with Nissan Datascan or a Conzult, make it all a lot easier.
