I finished building / setting up my pc upgrade yesterday

I went for the following components:

xfx 7950 GT

Core 2 duo 6400

Corsair xms 6400 1GB

Msi p965 motherboard.

I did a few tests in 3d mark 06 and it scored 5640 which im really pleased with.

I was playing half life 2 with everything on max yesterday at the highest resolution my monitor supports and it was flowing along at 80 -100 fps.

Now on to the overclocking :D

You sure your score is ok? Mine gets 5983 with the following spec

X2 4400 (oc'd to 2.5ghz)

2gb Geil RAM

7900GT

My girl friends gets 7981

X2 4800

1gb Corsair Ram

2x 7800 GT's

It is comparable with others of a similar spec.

You have 2gb ram and your cpu is running 2.5 ghz (mine 2.12) which bumps up the CPU score which is part of the overall 3dmark 06 score ;)

Ive nearly finished putting together my gaming rig :)

Nvidia 680 Sli mobo

2gig 667 Ram

2 x WD raptors SATA

1 x geforce 8800 gtx (with another due in soon)

E6700 core 2 duo processor (2.4ghz)

3dmark 06 got 9,800 (nothing overlocked)

Cant remember exact score for 3d mark 05, but think it was 17K or something.

Cant wait to test it in SLI mode as these 8800gtx's rock something wrotten :)

I had to fork out some serious power supply unit to get the 8800gtx to run. The unit I got is a proper quad sli 730w one, which can handle 4 x 7950's, but only 2 x 8800 gtx's. My previous psu, was only 550w and that sucked big time in getting the card to run

Something I understand at last!

I just built a new rig too: -

Asus P5W DH Deluxe Wi-Fi (overclockers dream)

Intel Core 2 Duo 6600

2GB OCZ 800mhz DDR2

Soundblaster X-Fi Fatality + Creative Gigaworks 7.1 system

ATI Radeon X1900XTX

750w Thermaltake PSU

24" Dell Widescreen Monitor

Razer laser mouse

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard

Warcraft owns now  . Do I win the geek shootout? :innocent:

Haven't started overclocking yet (need to sort out cooling), but it flies as it is

**Really should look into overclocking**

Where do I start?...

That's a BIG question, and one that's not very easy to answer. Your best bet would be to go to some overclocking/PC forums (I use Futuremark amongst others). Usually those places have some good beginners guides.

The monitor is great Alex ... makes everything just seem so much bigger and better. Makes me laugh each time I have to turn my head to look from one side of the screen to the other. The other option is to get a decent LCD TV with DVI inputs. Then you've got a kick-ass TV and monitor all in one

Cheers, J :D
