LeeT
My mrs and kids thought they would buy me this for xmas http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180060619601&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008 It arrived today and the supposed Alpine headunit is cheap chinese shite, its not even labelled up as alpine but Redpower:( I was fully aware that the screen was a cheap one. Any advice on what i can do here? Ive already started a dispute but my mrs needs a refund ASAP to find a replacement present in time for Xmas
hiten55
Ebay may take some time to resolve this, but dont rush, it may be a genuine mistake (dont see how, but you never know - maybe he got somone else to pack and post it....?). His user rating appears to be good, although he hasnt sold much. in the mean time it may be worth getting in touch with Paypal, if you used them, and with the bank / credit card company. you never know your luck Sucks that its happend so close to christmas though!! Hope its resolved before too long mate......

Shane
if you payed by pay pal you will get your money back no problem , just open a dispute with them i did this and had a refund within a week. Only if they have money in their account. My daughter used my account to buy a set of DVDs. They never came and we went down the dispute path. After about 3 weeks we got back just £3.50 of the £20 spent. paypal said that was all they could recover from the sellers account as she emptied it and had no funds in her nominated bank account. PP said they will pursue it but not holding my breath.
grimreaper
it is called false advertising so you will get your money back as long as they are still registered with ebay. pluss paypal should cover the out of pocket money it they do not have enough in there account. GazzaGSi
Did you open the dispute via ebay and get redirected to paypal? Reason I ask is Paypal will cover a higher amount than ebay. Ebay will only refund £115 max. I found this out a year or so ago when I bought a phone for over £200. Robbin bastards.

LeeT
ive just sent him a pic of what he has sent me and mentioned that i'll also be contacting the police and he has now offered to refund including my postage costs as soon as he receives the stereo back. He reckons that he always thought it was an Alpine and swears blind he is telling the truth. I just hope he doesn't go down the lost/damaged in post route now

Graham S
I'd ask for the money first then you'll send it back, dirty fooker. It has a Alpine model number so really think he was trying to pull a fast one. I'd wait till you have your money back then contact the police with the serial numbers and check if they have been stolen..

JustGav
Looks neat enough, HOWEVER it isn't alpine and you paid for an alpine.... My guess with the hacked cables, it has been nicked... Most people wouldn't buy something like this and then hack the loom to wire it in... just wouldn't make sense...

I can buy this headunit new on ebay for £
Graham S
nosey bastard:D Have you plugged it in to try it or just sending it straight back? Like Gav said, for a DVD head unit it wouldn't be cheap so you just wouldn't hack at the original loom!
