Chase Posted May 27, 2004 Share Posted May 27, 2004 Just done the ETTC mod and while testing in TTC mode, there's a rattling, scraping metallic noise as soon as I start to produce boost. When I flick back to sequential everything's OK again... Seems to be coming from the area around the turbo furthest from the bulkhead. questionboy Posted May 27, 2004 Share Posted May 27, 2004 Hi, This is normal after the ETTC mod, When you engage into TTC you will here a loud rattle from your turbo actuator, this will not cause any damage to you car but does become anoying !. Regarding the avi above, I've tried various pieces of software and nothing likes it apart from Windows Media Player and the SPV I recorded it on. questionboy Posted May 27, 2004 Share Posted May 27, 2004 When the system becomes under pressure it does seem to reduce the rattleing to a point you cannot here when you are driving but again is normal. As for it being down to the actuator, I don't think it has anything to be with being old they all seem to do it some worst than others. Chase Posted May 27, 2004 Author Share Posted May 27, 2004 OK, just been for another blast. Bit dissapointing below 3500rpm (as I expected) but above 4K way hey and kick down is alot more fun. Just getting a little scrape sound when the boost starts building then a slight squirting noise, then we're off. Anyone know what the squirting noise would be? Should be there for a bit longer next time Mod is a piece of piss to do actually. Parts cost about 3 quid from Maplins and the work took about an hour, including a bit of panicing (always worry about cutting ecu wires ) and finding tools. outatime Posted May 28, 2004 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I've had ETTC done on mine, it rattles loudly after a run in sequential mode - its fine in parellel The rattle appears when I lift off the throttle and goes (temporarily) after it has been on boost.
