Bill Prawn
My undertray has come loose and fallen down whilst driving. It is quite badly damaged and I've been quoted lots for a new one. If I remove it will it cause any damage to engine? Does anyone know of an aftermarket one? Does anyone have a spare one kicking about? Mike
I think Envy do a metal one....? The plastic ones always break eventually...
Sheefa
This happened to mine Bill in my smaller crash in August. I sourced a used, but VGC one from Paul E @ Miami GT. Cost me £40 mind!!!! Not sure if it's essential, but I'd say it helps in case you encounter a kurb like me
dibbleyuk
mines very low aswell i think its droped!
grahamc
which one? theres 2... one that is under where the FMIC goes, which I believe doesnt fit after an FMIC is installed. Then there is the one behind that one, which is catching all my oil coming out of my engine. I think this one is a good idea to have. Sheefa
The second one Graham. The large black undertray I think he means that does sit under the engine and associated parts Yes, a good idea to have one anyway. That undertray must of saved quite a bit of damage when I hit the verge. Just bent in half, all other parts were OK.
grahamc
Mine has become a mixing tray... oil + sand = gunk that sticks to everything!
Sheefa
I think there's a new black supra in my village of only 500 odd people. That undertray of the 'new boy' in town will be swiftly removed tonight if I see him Graham. My Christmas gift to you.
colsoop
My front undertray left bits of itself on the road when it dropped down. I haven't had a front one on my car for about 6 months now, i didn't notice any difference except more dirt in the engine bay
grahamc
I dont think that my front one fits with the FMIC in place... So its holding the house up for now, unless someone wants it.
Sheefa
Hhmmm Colin, not sure if that's such a good thing though. But then, that's only the front, not the large black undertray right? Salty and gritted roads are a potential hazard as people keep saying, plus all the other grime. I'd try and source one just in case. Like I said, it definitely helps in protecting the vital parts against an impact, or it did for me. Greg

Nic
It is quite badly damaged and I've been quoted lots for a new one. If you want a better quote for a new one let me know
Jake
I haven't had an undertray on my grey Supe since it fell off about 18 months ago. It hasn't caused any problems but I did notice a difference to how the engine sounded while on the move. Not worse or excessively loud - just different. sdavies
I always thought the tray "helped" with air flow through the engine bay - might be a load of old horse crap though Mine managed to start to sag a while back and only onticed it after doing some naughty leptons down the A329 into work and subsequently going over a speed bump (schhhhrape - wtf is that?) - look under the front and it is like the air scoop from a feckin F16. I dubbed it the poor mans active front spoiler - pops down at speed! I fixed it up by tucking it back and strategically placing cable ties through various spots - seems ot be holding for now and only a small hole in it from the speed bump. Also I was quotes something like £86 from Mr T for a new one.

Chris Wilson
No undertray will increase drag (lower top speed, possibly measurable drop in fuel economy), and it will lower the efficiency of the radiator and air conditiioning cooling. It's there for a good reason. Look underneath a Saab someday, and you will see it's virtually totally sealed and flat, they even have little vanes to direct underside airflow around the rear wheels and tyres. That's why they have such excellent coefficient of drag figures.
Bill Prawn
Cheers for the help. Managed to get it repaired, not sure how long it will last, but I know where to come if I need one
