Sheefa
I'm sure I've seen it plenty of times before, but searched and geneuinely can't find a post relating to question (I'm not lazy, honest ) Is there a difference between US and UK brakes, or are they both the bigger cmbo over the J-specs? Been offered a full set of calipers, good disks and pads but they are US spec apparently. Comes with fitting kit and shims or something. Can't afford them, but it would be rude not to 'borrow' the money if needed at only £350 for full setup. Thanks, Greg
merckx
Exactly the same.
Jake
No, I'm afraid the US ones are totally incompatible with the JDM Supras. Shame really, they would have been a steal at that price! Pass on the details though Greg mate. I'll have them for my, errr, US spec Supra. :innocent:
Sheefa
Ha ha, thanks guys, and Jake! I'll see if he can get anymore, he's a breaker. Cheers, Greg
Nic
Greg the discs are VERY heavy and will cost a fortune to post. It may work out cheaper to just buy the calipers and source the discs locally.
Sheefa
Nic, you're certainly right there. Total postage was $300 so not that much of a bargain all in all considering Jezzybabes was selling practically a new set of calipers all round and disks, pads for only £600!. Hmmm, will have to consider other options. Not going to do it yet, but need to think 'safety' from now on and so brakes have to be sorted before anything else. How much do you think I could recoup on a set of J-spec front Calipers, brand news disks (covered about 400 miles MAX) and again a NEW set of CW Fast Road pads? All work done and parts bought by Chris Wilson and fitted in August. Car's been off the road since! £150 seem reasonable?
Kranz
£150 seem reasonable? Sounds a good deal, especially for someone who has knackered a caliper. The pads alone are nearly that price aren't they??
wkdtime
I sourced a complete UK brake set up, consisting of shims, disks, callipers, all in pretty good nick for £350 from a scappie in East london. Guys trust me, do your homework and a bit of leg work and you can pick them up for the price above, just try Jap scrappies.
Sheefa
Thanks guys, yeah I'm checking out the breakers now WKD Time. K14 Sup - yes mate, pads were £130 and new disks were £160 iirc. As mentioned, they're only about 400 miles old tops.
