Matt _Aero top_ Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 Right don't really know where to start as my heads in a mess trying to think what my problem can be so here goes fellas . I noticed my power steering making a funny sound the other day so i checked and topped the level up and left the cap off and made sure it was bled ok and there was no air in the system by leaving the cap off and turning lock to lock several times . The sound hasn't gone away but got worse if anything it hard to pin point exactly where the noise is coming from but my guess is it coming from behind the pulley wheel . Its almost like a horrible clicking , cracking sound and when you rev the engine it gets even worse . Spayed abit of WD40 on and it when quiet for aboud 5 seconds then back again . Tricky-Ricky Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 Could be the belt, had similar sounds coming from mine, sprayed it with WD40 not the best thing to do really but it can show up what the problem is, changed my belt and no more noise. merckx Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 Sounds like you need a new pump, the bearing must be worn out. If you've sprayed the WD40 behind the pulley and against the pump then you'll have lubricated the bearing, which will temporarily make it quieter.
