Trig
What happened in Latvia? To cut a long story short, went to a strip club after getting drunk. Got lured into a particular club after we were promised free drinks. Had a couple of drinks (2) and watched a couple of dances. We wanted to leave after an hour and they gave us a bill for £600 between 6 of us!! We tried to walk out refusing to pay but 7 massive bouncers/russian mafia stood in our way and the boss started going mental saying "YOU MUST PAY!!" So they marched one of my mates back to the hotel to get his cashcard so he could pay. Trouble is theres nothing you can do being in another country. But sounds like its been getting worse over there. Im glad something is being done over it.

Konrad
That's why Poland is more healthy for visitors. Why on earth you went to fawking Latvia?! Latvia is good place to buy AK-47 tho and blew up all pub with 7 massive guys inside -g- Visit Cracow next time and Zakopane (50 miles south) Worth money and effort mate PS. And remember "there is nothing like free meal - everything have to be paid somehow"

Conrad
Yeah I heard you too fella. This isn't just isolated Latvia. It happens all over Eastern Europe and the rest of the world. An old work colleague of mine used to work with somebody this happened to in Venezuela. No strip clubs mind, this was a middle aged couple in a coffee shop. The shop owner gave them a a bill for $3000 for two coffees and a couple sandwiches. The couple were threatened and marched to a cashpoint, forced to hand over approx £1000 and had all their belongings robbed. Scary stuff man - there's a lot of lawless countries in this world! DaveK
I went to one in Budapest and had no problems. They did initially try to charge us a lot when we went in - but there was an offer in the tourist mag for free entry, and they accepted it. I think the girls inside were slightly confused by the fact that "we" was me and my g/f.
Green Peace
My God thats awful, that reminds me of when i was 18, went with my eldest brov in one of those in West End, I refused a drink, coz didn't like the fact it was dark dingy and smelly and thought id catch something off the glass. But my brother had a bottle of Lager which cost him £150 .....and the girls never even stripped ha ha. (Hey you could of asked Millsy about the test drive i took him for when he was going to buy my ole black uk Supra and we went sideways round the rounderbout in Richmond ha ha..he virtually cacked himself) £600 bloody hell, hope you get it back, should send an invoice to the Latvian embassy...bastards. hogmaw
That sort of thing was the norm in Soho, London until just a few years ago. My ex used to work in one of those places. Shit happens all over the world, not just E Europe
