hadyn
Hello all, Last week I did a full coolant change on the Supe. I only used about 7 litres of 4life though.... Been driving the car all week and I have noticed that the coolant in the expansion tank keeps falling to the halfway mark after driving. I have replaced the rad cap with a new toyota item so its not the classic case of a duff rad cap Is coolant being drawn into the system as the overall cooling system isnt full up yet? Will this continue until I've put another 2.5 litres in the expansion tank?
Scooter
If the guage shows normal temp, the heaters nice and hot with no behind the dash gurgling noises and the rad is to the brim with coolant when its cold then i would just monitor the level in the overflow tank and only worry if it starts to go down......... hadyn
coolant level goes up and down in the expansion tank from full to the halfway mark. Im not panicking as my old one used to settle at the halfway mark too when cold with a fully working rad cap Coolant is full to the rad cap brim when cold
Ric
could be a airlock in there, it should use a full 9 litres, mine only took in 5 but after a while it all got sucked round the system and took another 4 litres
JohnA
Also remember that it's hard to drain the whole lot at once. Even using the drain plug in the block may leave some coolant sitting still. I like to flush it twice with distilled water, then add the coolant, accounting for the pure water that is hiding.
