hadyn
Ive just been looking at the scanned service manual instructions for doing an autobox change (not flush) : Is that basically all you have to do with 2 litres of type IV? Seems simple enough...

Matt _Aero top_
Make sure you add new gearbox oil through the correct dipstick and not the engine oil dipstick or you really will be a DIPSTICK . :d

JohnA
It's a good idea to also clean the filtering mesh that lives inside that little sump (especially if you haven't got indications that it has ever been done in the past)
hadyn
Did this today very easy. Think I put about 1.7 litres back in - is that OK?

Annabella
Managed to do mine today at last, stopped raining! Pretty easy, just need a 14mm socket and wrench, rags, leak proof tarp, (as you will spill a bit) plastic empty oil can with a side cut out, jack and axle stand. I used toyota ATF DIII. Jack up and use an axle stand, I keep the jack under too, taking a small amount of the pressure, and bricks behind rear wheels (just in case!) You need and Undo the nut that was here, 14mm suited. Making sure drained into: Dont forget to put the nut back on, dont over tighten! Lower your car etc, take this dipstick out stick a rag around Fill with this, I put 1.2 L in then backed into garage (garage is level), changed gear etc. warmed it up a bit and topped up some more. Went for a little trip out and topped up some more when back. Hope this helps - some of the pics aren't that great!

peter richards
dont think any of mine had ever been changed , the diff was a sludge , only thing ive got to is the brake fluid , but cant do that on my own
The Raven
Did the diff the other day. Having never done it before it was quite easy. Remember to take off the fill first just incase it don't want to come off and you have emptied the diff
