Terminator
Netgear DG843N Range Max. Not sure on price, but has good range, I can use it sitting in a car on my drive, quite impressed that it copes well the car body shield effect. Havard
We've got a Thomson Speedtouch 585 V6. Has been brilliant and likewise will work even if you're out of the house, within range. Cost me £75.00. H.

Konrad
I'm computer technician (and bus driver ) and belive me, I haven't seen anything better in their price range than 3COM routers/modems. Almost selfconfiguring, easy to set up and without any faults really. Unles we are talking about router porn called CISCO But this is not this price range. For your small network 3COM will be best choice - find out what connection you have - CABLE or ADSL and choose one of those: CABLE/DSL one http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/72620 ADSL one (including built-in modem) http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/87995 This one is 11 pounds over your 100 pounds limit, but it have free PC wireless card to one of your laptops (I think this card is worth around 30 pounds itself). Ebuyer is faultless internet shop, one of biggest electronic suppliers in UK. Spent there around 12k pounds in times i was repairing computers, wirless networks set by me in 6 places on 3COM works over 1 year without single fault. I too work in IT (3rd line Tech Support) and 100% agree with the above quote... I have a 3com router i bought for about 40quid. 54g, so a bit older now, but all this "netgear rangemax" stuff is just poo in comparison. You want range??? Get a 3com. I have mine in the back bedroom in a 2nd floor flat, and I park outside on a main road a good 70m away, and I can quite happily sit in the car with my laptop running some diags on my ECU, and still have an internet connection. EDIT: I've just realised that the 2nd link (ADSL) in the post is the one i have. Quoted at working up to 91m!!! And I can vouch for that! boombastictiger
I have a Dlink one, its over a year old, but a fantastic piece of kit, powerful signal and everything always on and hardly ever needs restarting, it cost me £80 at dixons, so thats £50 ebay price, im sure they have much better dlink models for £100 now... V
Cheers folks - seem then either Netgear or 3COM. both seem to have good and bad reviews, but from unknown tech' abilities. Leaning towards the Netgear.
wkdboi2005
Would'nt recomend 3com mate, the fans die after 9 months or so. Sorry guys just my experince of 3 com switching gear.
Ric
only problem is with that netgear if you dont have a 11n card then your sorta shafted. U wouldnt get the full potentional of 300mbps. you will more than likely be connecting via 11g devices so will only connect at 54mbps thus wasting around 50quid for a 11n device which only the laptop with the supplied pcmcia card can utilise. V
Well i plumped for the Netgear from Ebuyer. They balls'd up a delivery so gave me a free next day delivery but.......... when i phoned up to say how do i get the free delivery the lady on the other end of the phone pre-empted what I was going to say and just did it without wanting a ref or anything – so I’d suggest just saying it anyway and fingers crossed you might get free delivery anyway…….. I’ll have a play with it Christmas to see if its any good… Happy Christmas folks & thanks again
