How do you eat Porridge?

Mike

Recommended Posts

Charlotte and I (correct way around, thanks) were having a spot of Porridge for breaky the other day... and she put honey on it.. I followed suit and it was nice (not really a 'honey' type person)... but as a kid I always had either a bit of sugar, or a bit of jam on it...

I remember my Dad (who worked in Scotland for a few years) told me that Scottish people have salt on it..?

..anyway I told Charlotte this and she was appalled..

So.. my question is.. how do you eat yours? :)

(Ian, I think she asked you this last night, but then I thought you might think I was taking the proverbial... I wasn't ;) )

Another myth ruined.... :(

I'm going to try it... and then relaunch Porridge in Scotland... the way it's 'allegedly' meant to be eaten...

hmm ... are oats the same thing as porridge ?

i put my oats in the microwave - full power for just under 5 min - ... stir em around ever min or so - skimmed milk for me thanks :D .... either sugar or honey will do - but i did experiment with cadburys dairy milk chocolate one time - looked like chocolate porridge :D but was a bit "murky" when going down my throat

As a kid, proper porridge always had salt on it. These days its honey / golden syrup / jam. Obviously.

hazzah!! looks like you could be right with this 'myth' then Mike.

I eat it with salt!

It's nice :sly:

although i think this particular scot just wants to see what happens when you try it with salt in :D
