there is a distributor which is known to fail, the probes in the distributor corrode and wear over time, as there's a spinning arm that spins round generating a spark for all 4 probes... you can try to take the top off the distributor and clean the contacts as a temp fix, but utilimately you'll have to get it replaced if you do find its the distributor is causing the problem.
