tbourner
"If you believe that you've got another think coming." But the majority actually believe it should be 'thing' and not 'think' - does that mean majority rule and it should be changed? If so the future of English looks bleak!! Pete
whats the correct use of the term racist? The BBC's John Simpson was shown on last night's TV news interviewing the late Pim Fortuyn. Fortuyn said something along the lines of: "we have guests who are trying to take over the house." Said Simpson: "That sounds very racist to me." Replied Fortuyn: "Give me a definition of racist." At which point the BBC report ended. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism

Soop Dogg
Brakes - Breaks Breaks - These can be taken during the day to relive yourself from tedium of work. e.g I need several breaks a day from reading inane drivel posted on car forums otherwise I go loopy! Brakes - I need to use my brakes carefully during the winter months otherwise I will find myself spending a shit load of money with Miami GT. What about this one, CJ: Relieve/Relive Relieve: You can relieve yourself of the contents of your sack by knocking one out in the bathroom. Relive: You can relive your youth by buying a Supra when you're an old git having a mid life crisis like CJ here. (He's the one teaching us English and getting it wrong. lol) Hope this helps.... :d

JonW
I studied English Language at A-Level. This included the study of Old English and how the language has changed. The comments that are being made here about the misuse of language are very similar to those that were made by many people that were against changes to the language several hundred years ago. You guys would have hated Shakespeare for example, but he would not be dictated to about the use of a language! Our language will and is changing all the time and after all this is a forum for petrol heads not academics. I don't think anyone here joins up to learn the proper use of written English.........do they?
