Ark
Any ideas anyone? It's not every time, but often... I use it in automatic mode, so it counts up while I'm on boost, counts down when not boosting. I usually have it reading its minimum run-out time of 10 seconds by the time I switch it off, and at that point it sometimes cuts straight away. Sometimes it counts for a few of the 10 seconds, then cuts... It's an older style Blitz dual turbo timer, FWIW. Is it likely to be the electronics in the timer going funny in their old age, or something more sinister? Cheers
ajazyasin
On auto mode it should complete the time it has accumulated during your run. Sound a bit suspect.
Ark
Agreed, it should. But it doesn't (all the time)... Trouble is, it's intermittent.
Clarkey
I would think if it's counting down when in auto mode - whilst NOT boosting .. that seems normal to me. Because, when you're not on boost - it doesn't need so much idle time. When on-boost - I would expect the idle time to increase.
Ark
The behaviour is fine normally. The cut-out only happens after I park and switch the key to "off" but the countdown hasn't yet reached zero.
Jake
Faulty/intermittent handbrake signal maybe?
Ark
Interesting suggestion - why would that be the case, given that I can (obviously) turn the engine off with the handbrake off?

Sheefa
Remove needless gizmos, be at peace with your car. Hmm, might use that in my sig... Or install a nice simple one like mine whereby you select at the simple turn of a knob 1 minute or 3 minutes and rest assured it'll always run for that time and that time only. Note to self: Everything else goes wrong though.

Jake
Faulty/intermittent handbrake signal maybe? Interesting suggestion - why would that be the case, given that I can (obviously) turn the engine off with the handbrake off? (I haven't had a turbo timer for years and I've got a headache but IIRC...) some turbo timers have a wire that is connected to the "Handbrake On" signal. If the handbrake is released while the timer is keeping the car running it turns the engine off. I think it's an anti-theft feature.
Ark
Interesting - I'll test that tonight.
SupraJames
Yes some Turbo Timers come with a wire to attached to the handbrake light feed as an anti theft feature. Tried to wire my Greddy timer up and could not get the thing to work at all.! So in the end I tried loads of different things then gave up and left it. Ark
OK, it's not the handbrake - I tested by actuating the lever several times during count-down...
