I'm not sure I really understand the problem with the eBay thing. I mean, fair play for banning him for abusing other members - that sort of thing is not on.

But what's the real problem with false bidding? It's not like by doing so you're forcing anyone to pay more than they want to for the item - they don't have to bid any more than they are willing to pay, after all. It's no different to setting a reserve price, it just allows you to do so in the middle of an auction. The only difference it makes from a buyers' perspective is that you won't necessarily get the bargain you were looking for, but if you didn't want to buy it unless it was a bargain then simply don't bid!

In othere words, he's ripping people off, especially fellow supra owners. It's against ebay rules as stated earlier in thread by Micheal.

Why is that so hard to understand?

If it was some random item, like a pair of his used boxers or something, then yes it woudl still be wrong but i personally wouldnt have been as bothered. Its the way he was blatantly trying to rip off fellow owners (off here) because no one bought them at the price he wanted on here. He was trying to entice people into buying them while at the same time making sure he got exactly what he wanted. Not exactly the kind of club spirit, or good natured members, we want on here.

Well - again, I'm not sure he's ripping anyone off, as nobody was actually forced to buy at a higher price than they were willing to pay, were they? And it's not like the item is a necessity for anyone or that he is the only source.

I don't really see any moral difference between coming on here and saying "I'm not selling item X for less than £Y" and putting the same item on eBay and bidding it up to £Y anyway - either way, if no-one is willing to pay Y, then no-one will be buying it either way. I don't see any real difference between bidding an item up to £Y or opening an auction at £Y straight away.

But if the practice is against eBay rules, then that's another matter (sorry - wasn't aware - I don't use eBay myself and I must have overlooked Michael's post). Shouldn't be done. 'nuff said.

:respekt:

I cant believ ebay let you place 2 different bids from the same Ip address, surely they shud have some system to stop this, and only one ebay account per person!

We've got 3 different accounts, mine, my wifes personal a/c, and her ebay shop, all at the same ip address.

Always use this when bidding on something

http://auctionpix.co.uk/shill_bidding.php?

Must admit if there is a reserve on something then I have no issue with shill bidding up to the reserve because I will only bid what I can afford and if the item wouldn't sell under the reserve anyway so no harm done (IMO).

Can understand the issue if there is no reserve, that would piss me off.
