Ewen
I'm thinking of selling my Hi-Fi system and just playing everything through the AV system. First off....these days, is there any real difference in music playback fidelity between Hi-Fi and say a good surround sound system, 5.1 and upward ? I think its sounds ok, but opinions welcomed. Secondly....whats available out there that I can buy to increase the number of inputs into my surround sound system ? I need two additional inputs at the moment, not sure how to go about it. Thanks in advance:)

JustGav
Strictly speaking an audiophile system and a home cinema system would have different requirements... but in the real world and not that of 'What Hi-Fi'. I don't think is enough of a difference to justify the cost. And DAMN that denon unit is awesome, ethernet connectivity as well???

Todd
I think its sounds ok, but opinions welcomed.) Think you've answered your own question, if you are happy with it then what else matters I went down the big amp, speakers and all that jazz but for what I listen to and watch it was overkill. Ended up going back to the stock speakers and all I've noticed is a lot more room in the living room In saying that I've got a mate who is a purist and watching a film at his place is better than the pictures, you hear every single note, it is very impressive but his setup cost more than my car

RedM
A purist will tell you that there is a difference but for most people it'd negligible.

Guest ldor1
Don't forget that you are reducing the life of your laser by using it to play audio, life time of a DVD laser is 300 hours approx, especially if its a new one as most of the lasers are now made in China and are rubbish
