imi
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/6199480.stm Finally, decent innings there by collingwood, petersen and bell. (strauss played a stupid shot) Lets hope they make a match out of this one by getting a large 1st innings...........
Gavstar
Remeber last year it was the Aussies that won the first test then went downhill for them
imi
We really need Harmison to start firing, believe you me, if he gets his act together, the aussies are going down.......BIGTIME. Bring Monty......Giles cant bowl.... What ever happened to Simon Jones - Guy looked like a proper nutter that scared the shit out of the aussies
Robert
I would have played Monty, he adds something different and the Aussies have never played against him whereas Giles is useless, problem is Duncan Fletcher and Freddie prefer Giles. Poor old Simon Jones has been injured since the last ashes series.

Poor old Simon Jones has been injured since the last ashes series. What king of injury....he was other than flint our best bowler (took 19 wickets and was a master @ reverse swing) Same with Vaughan, much better leader and a superbly talented and ruthlessly flamboyant batsman - his average against the aussies is superb. Desperately need some more class in the bowling dept....
Gavstar
He did save us a couple of time last year too. Robert
Poor bloke has had knee problems since the last ashes, was at his very best last time, sadly won't be back for another few months
imi
Too much pressure on Flint, his is a fantastic bowler although needs more time with the bat. If harmison doesnt fire, then we are completely stuffed....like in the 1st test.
Robert
I personally think Strauss should have been captain, at least we would have Monty playing.
Class One
I personally think Strauss should have been captain, at least we would have Monty playing. But Flintoff was wacking him around in nets prior to this test. Give it time, he WILL come into his own, just not now.
Robert
But Giles hasen't played test cricket in a year and it shows, he was wacked about in the 1st test and the same will happen in this one. Monty took wickets on non turning wickets,he showed something different. Just hope we win this one and get it level.
imi
Gilles has always been medeocre (spelling) as a bowler @ best. He is in the side purely cause he can bat a bit. monty on the other hand is a far better bowler (recent performances) and really piercing with his flight, variation of pace and drift... But like Boycott said - Monty should have been picked, however it wouldnt have made ANY difference to the outcome of the Test. The ball lies in the harmison court... Anderson is rubbish too.....he is so wayward and has no real pace, I am surprised he is playing for the national side.
Ian R
Problem is man for man Oz have a far superior side
imi
Now that is a performance and a half with the bat....smashed warne and mcgrath all over the park. Over to Flintoff - he is really pumped up to teach these aussies a lesson..... BRING IT ON.
imi
BLOODY HELL - Last night a Draw was the most likely result....WOKE up this morning and http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/6206590.stm
Robert
Watched most of the match and they never turned up, it took them 20 overs to score 18 runs and they lost 4 wickets in that spell.
imi
"No team in history has lost after declaring on a higher total than England's 551-6 batting first in a Test." I guess they should print that on their tour bus...... come on guys - how hard is it to bad time........
Robert
I just think they need to get rid of Anderson and Giles and stick in Monty and Plunkett/Mahmood
imi
hmm....Monty is good, not sure about the other two. I dont think its the lack of talent, think its the lack of attitude, its the wrong mindset. The bloody aussies never give up.....fight till the dying breadth.....like us LAST YEAR...Collingwood has the right attitude.
Robert
Anderson and Gils haven't played any first class cricket for a year, so naturally they shouldn't be included in the squad in my opinion. You can't get them to bowl at their best with just a few practise matches. Both Plunkett/Mahmood are tall and would put the pitches to better use than Anderson. imi
Just read this article on another cricket website.....OMG Indeed. They were batting for time and deliberately didnt make RUNS, left the tailenders exposed (nice thinking Fletch).... FFS guys - if you come out to the field thinking that you are going to lose, then surely its going to happen. The Aussies can sniff fear.......I love their never say die attitude. FEEBLE ENGLAND RUIN ASHES SERIES
MARTIN R
It looks like this could be a 5-0 series scoreline:(
imi
"If the top six or seven batsmen do not provide the majority of England's runs, change them." - CLICK FOR ARTICLE Amazing how they are relying on the number 8 batsman....how does that work?
