Stock turbo size

I'm researching the mods i'm going to do to my Supra when i get it and i have had a lot of trouble finding out what size the stock turbos are all my searches have netted me sizes that people are up grading to but not the stock

 

can anyone help me out:)

I wanted to know what the stock sizes were because i am thinking of staying with the TT setup and just upgrading them a little i want really good response and the ability to spool to about 700 RWHP (with a 100 shot of nitrous) but i would run low boost normally and have it as a daily driver at about 450-520 RWHP

You can't....without hideous expense.

 

The most you can hope for with hybrids is about 470 at the crank. Some will *claim* more but I personally think that any more is nonesense.

 

I also wouldn't put a 100shot of Nitrous into an already overcrowded and overheated system.

 

If you want 700HP you need a Mid/Large Single (T67-71) or GT2835R Twins.

could you explain what you mean by 'hybrids' because i'm not sure about it also what size are the GT2835R Twins and are they able to be run sequentially

GT2835's are designed for paralell operation.

Hybrids are stock based turbos that have been worked on internally and supposed to make more power and/or longivity. As Alex said, 470 is a realistic maximum no matter what you do.

The only way you'll get more power than that on stock based twins is in a bar.... After a few pints ;)

oki understand now a little better and i think i should clarify what i meant i think i wrote it a bit confusing I didn't mean that i would be working on the stock turbos. I intended that i would replace both of them with a bit bigger ones but still running in sequential mode

the main reason i want to stay with sequential is for the response at low RPM

The sequential kit on the Supra cannot cope with larger turbos. Period.

 

If you wanted to design a custom system to run sequentially you could but the cost would far outweigh the benefits.

 

You're looking for something that isn't feesible. Also, what's the point if you stick on two bigger turbo's you'll have a load more lag anyway....so you might as well get a properly sized single turbo or the GT2835R Parallel Twins.

 

If there were big sequential kits you'd find info about them with a search...but there arn't so you can't. :)

ok so i can't go sequential

at what RPM do the GT2835s spin up and, produce max boost

second if i want my Max power out put to be 700rwhp with 100shot NOS do i get a turbo rated to 700hp or 600 hp because the NOS will make up the extra 100hp i'm not sure how it works

 

by the way Alex thanks for being blunt sometimes i just don't get it and i appreciate why you have the 'subtle/diplomatic' tag now

Good question about the turbo sizing I would go for something capable of 700RWHP. Because then you're not running it to the ragged edge all the time. I do think that 700RWHP is a little extreme for the road. 600 is a better bet but I'd still use a 700rated turbo, why, well the ratings are usually for silly boost levels that you can't run on pump fuel.

 

To cut a long story short you want a T67DBB os similar. It will hit full boost 3300-3800rpm (depending on the gear you're in)...and will produce 600RWHP at 1.5bar of boost (750 on race fuel) with supporting mods. A Porsche Carrera GT couldn't get away from a members car with this turbo fitted running 1.4bar....do you really need to go faster than that?

 

The HKS 2835R's produce about 330HP each and spin up at about 4000rpm...they look pretty but arn't worth the extra weight or cost IMO.

the plan was (roughly) to drive around on ~500rwhp daily and be able to turn the boost up when i go to the track

i had no idea the 2835s would take that long to spin up

 

so i still have to query does NOS add hp or just get the car up to its max hp more quickly

NOS is also a coolant and perfect to use to cool down air and at the same time making more HP.

 

Depending on the use one ideal way to use it on low revs on full throttle to make power all the way until the turbos " take over".

one usually say that 25 hp nos makes an extra 10-15 hp because the intake air cools down so much that you can push more air in to the motor

As for choosing the turbo/turbos you can go single or stay twin dependning what kind of power you want and were you want it

twins cost more (hehe). And just because you can not find any info on twin seqs does not mean its impossible :secret:
