dangerous brain
Is that the normal price for them? Any traders beat £850 as I already have that as a price?

JamieP
Dont forget you will need a AEM CDI or a HKSDLI to run the AEM aswell. Dusty does decent prices on all this aswell
dangerous brain
I'll need what???? I'm new in this market and only just considering buying a motor with a single on it.
JamieP
The AEM is a wasted spark ecu.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
mmm does this mean the beast is yours dude ???
dangerous brain
If you mean a purple one then I will confirm that I am gonna go and have a look at it for sure If I buy it I need some stuff. I have the worlds best AEM tuner just up the road so it makes sense to stick one of those on the car. Having seen the smashed up gs300 with 30 grands worth of single turbo mods that went all wrong on the motorway in a straight line I've got to have RLTC. terribleturner
Save money mate and get him to do the AEM TC, but as jamie says you'll need a DLI or CDI. $850 is a good price for a new one. I did know someone with a 2nd hand one which was about £750 but is probably sold now.
dangerous brain
AEM TC? and what is a DLI or a CDI?

JamieP
AEM TC= traction control... i would go with the hks dli over the cdi as it takes half the time to wire in;)
terribleturner
but cost's twice as much

dangerous brain
OK for f*ckwits like me what is this ere dli? and why do i need it?
JamieP
The AEM is a wasted spark ecu... the DLI is a ignition amplifier that puts the spark back in.
dangerous brain
So let me get this right I pay good money to take the spark away then more good money to put it back again????

Guest dturne81
You can run the AEM without a spark booster fine but as you go past 1.2bar the spark isn't strong enough. You can close the plug gaps up to solve this but you will then find a rougher idle in my experience. These ECUs are the best thing you could fit to your car. I've mapped lots of supras on them Auto and Manual. Just for your info that price is CHEAP!!! UK Retail price is £1383 +VAT and in my opinion so worth it. I use Motec a lot and for the money you are laughing as the AEM is plug and play and has every feature available for free (You have to pay extra with the Motec) Dan
Jake
I have a "HKS Twin Power DLI" here that I bought and never used. I don't seem to need it my car. Dunno what it's worth. How much do they go for usually? Edit: NOW SOLD!

How much do they go for usually? £200ish seems to be the going rate for a secondhand one I paid £285 for mine new from the states, sumo sells them for about £450 iirc
Jake
I think this is new. The harness it comes with has certainly never been used. I'd be happy with £200 though.
