Releasing the bonnet

Hi,

 

I tried to pop my bonnet this morning but the release from inside the car is having no effect whatsoever.

 

Is there anything else I can try? I cant see anything where the bonnet meets at the front and am wondering if theres an easy way.

 

I've done a search and realise there's a cable, but have no idea how to find it.

First thing i'd check is to see if the cable has become disconected from the release lever. Stick your head in the footwell and have alook

What if someone tries to open the bonnet at the same time as you holding open the leaver?

I've seen cars where the mechanism becomes tired. Plenty of open/closes in succession should free it up.

I know Wez_p had this problem for a while, he had to reach up inside the bonnet from the front intake and release it manually from there. Try PMing him for a detailed description - I don't know whether you have to do anything in advance though.

Cheers guys, just had a look at it over my work break, but cant see anyway of getting into it under the front bumper.

 

I've now got it booked in for a service for tomorrow so will let them deal with it I think. Safer than me hacking around I think.

 

Also just noticed that the seals above my windows dont go flush with the car, on both sides. Quite a gap and you can actually see what looks like retaining clips through the gap...only they're not retaining anything.

 

I've certainly never noticed this before, and its identical on both sides. Weired!!
