Laura
Nope SDI is the spec, the top spec they did with stick on fake walnut the lot They are a good functional cheap to run car. Also consider low mileage sierra saphires maybe a 1.8 ghia or the last of the cavaliers 2.0 CD. The smaller the car you buy the more of a premium you will pay for them as they are popular. If you pick up a not so popular car that has been well looked after it'll serve you well. Thanks DB, a Chavalier was my first thought. Seem to be quite sturdy & reliable. sdavies
The ones with the rust problem should have completely fallen apart by now. lol - fair point, old reliables that haven't fallen apart by now can be deemed a product of D^Carwinism? dangerous brain
Also consider some jap metal thats relatively unkown but well built stuff http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&make=MAZDA&min_pr=75&source=0&model=XEDOS&max_pr=&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1500&trim=&keywords=&postcode=bh12+2nb&ukcarsearch_full.x=54&ukcarsearch_full.y=12&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&make=MAZDA&min_pr=75&source=0&model=MX-3&max_pr=&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1500&trim=&keywords=&postcode=bh12+2nb&ukcarsearch_full.x=67&ukcarsearch_full.y=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH The black 1.8 v6 at 900 sheckles looks very good. The MX3 is a solid car handles like its on rails and is good for 130 mph if you fancy summat a bit racier.

Matt H
An x reg 1.2 clio with high mileage may well be in your budget, good cars for getting about in
Matt H
Citroen AX 1.5 debut diesel. 60 mpg or better. Insurance group nothing and fairly nippy to 50 so ideal town car. I had one for commuting to work 70 miles each way for 3 years. You would actually drive an ax around?!?! do you have no shame?!?!!!!!! anyway, one of them wont cost more than £50, so she can go a bit further
Kranz
Mark 1 MR2 original spec with low milage. Lovely! I think there's even one for sale on here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=91051 Just knock him down a bit.
dangerous brain
Well if one of "them" comes with a full MOT at £50 and a tank of diesel you've made money then Celica isn't a bad choice I just think they look a bit dated now. Theres some nice mk3 golf gti's about and actually for a girl an older golf cabrio is chic cool.
