Help! What To Buy Next?

Ford Fiesta of about any mark really, they do exactly what they say on the tin, cheap to run, maintain, service and insure. Majority of them carry more in the boot etc than you may expect. Reasonably pokey and forgiving drive - bit of a newbs car and an all rounder. /shrug. I like em for what they are - good reasonably priced WYSIWYG cars.

...just find one that has been loved ;)

My P reg Fiesta went 6 years with nowt serious but a warped disc and having to replace the air bypass valve (£53 - 5 minute job) :D - I had her from 13k miles and put an extra 55k on the wee beasty. She went for just 1k a while back and is still ticking along now, although I believe a radiator hose went shortly after I traded her in for my Sup ;) but thats neither here nor there. Ford - as I said - WYSIWYG - not gonna last like a Supra now is it (although at the rate the prices are going, probably holds its value longer lol :() ;) Also for the price - probably one of the better all round options. SO - just off my own experience Ford aren't *that* bad :D

I was thinking maybe an E30 or E36 318/320, but again not that cheap to run. Just...can't...bring myself....to...buy a Fraud or Pug-bucket! Beggars can't be choosers... My first car was a Datsun 120Y Coupe, maybe I'll get another one, she was great! No, really!

Squiffy, hang in there, I didn't have a sniff for ages but first to view left a deposit!

What's the general consensus on Clio's? French still I know but my ex has a Williams and I actually quite like it! (I know I could only get a 1.0 or something tho!)

WSB2, where have you been hiding! Oh, and you're not fooling anyone you big girl.

Again the peugot 106 I'd look for a diesel same unit as the AX but slightly less flimsy a car. If you need 5 doors and a bit more practicality have a look at a rover 220 SDI http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&make=ROVER&min_pr=75&source=0&model=200&max_pr=&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1500&trim=&keywords=turbo+diesel&postcode=bh12+2nb&ukcarsearch_full.x=69&ukcarsearch_full.y=5&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH

loads there to consider. They are as quick as a mk3 golf gti and do 50 mpg on the motorway.

i don't mind clio's at all Laura, cheap to buy and run which is the main thing.

would agree with what was said before about the 106 but you could pick up a clio cheaper i think.

good call with the SDI, db. :)

Clios? Out of the pick of the french bunch I'd put that firmly last. I'd have a 106 rallye over any clio (3l V6 aside)

Nope SDI is the spec, the top spec they did with stick on fake walnut the lot :D They are a good functional cheap to run car.

Also consider low mileage sierra saphires maybe a 1.8 ghia or the last of the cavaliers 2.0 CD. The smaller the car you buy the more of a premium you will pay for them as they are popular. If you pick up a not so popular car that has been well looked after it'll serve you well.
