I think it's ok in that most modern cars are manufactured way above the spec that the test was originally intended to find fault with. Nut the main issue is as far as I am concerned, and other BPU Supras, is that we won't have to have the annual problem we have with MOT emmisions

There is a 'third way' on the old emmisons test.

My aunts raggedy shitbox Mondeo badly failed it's recent MOT- imagine that hunk of shit going around for another 12 months!

if cars were serviced regulary and the cust actually had the work carried out that was advised on the service the the 2 year mot prob wouldnt be to bad, but thay dont!! i think its a very dangerous way to go about things, just because toyota's rarely fail mot's dont mean every other car is as good.think there will be alot more death traps on the road.

I agree. You see too many death-traps rattling round the roads as it is. The annual MOT is best, as it highlights the bangers reasonably quickly.

Take a drive in the USA backcountry, you'll be amazed how many shitters there are, crashing around on sahgged shocks, with no brakes - it's scary, but they can do it because there is no MOT equivalent it seems.
