jamesmark
Tried searching but could not find anything, and anyone help with 2 questions. What size for nut and bolts do I need to connect the decat pipes? and What size bolts do I need to connect 1st decat to manifold as I believe they are welded on already. Cheers
merckx
What size for nut and bolts do I need to connect the decat pipes? Cheers M10 about 40mm, you'll need 4. What size bolts do I need to connect 1st decat to manifold as I believe they are welded on already. Cheers The manifold has 3 studs which remain in place, undo the 3 nuts and re-use them. I think the nuts were M10 too.

Bob
the studs for the decat pipe -> downpipe are fine pitch btw. They can be easily removed / replaced with a suitable Torx socket I know the above 'cos I knacered one of mine due to trying to force a standard M10 nut on - it was only thanks to Voo51 having some spares that I could get the car back together! Bob
fine pitch means that the threads on the stud run at a shallower angle than those of standard bolts - this means a normal nut won't fit them, and likewise a normal bolt won't fit the hole for the stud (though I'm not 100% sure the stud holes are the same pitch, but I would imagine so) You can buy the studs and nuts from Toyota - the studs in the downpipe have the star-like head on them, which is for a Torx socket to go on - they can be taken out and repaced easily enough with the right tools As for the decat->decat->exhaust bolts, any M10 bolts and nuts will do

Bob
Wanna job at my place? You wouldn't want me, trust me! I'm a concrete orientated worker; what little I have gleaned regarding bolts and assorted metal things is generally through trial and (more often than not) error
