michael
It's all a bit Hollywood isn't it! Seems you can buy the stuff they think might have been used: http://www.unitednuclear.com No NRC license required! All our radioactive isotopes are legal to purchase & own by the general public. To ensure the longest half-life possible, we do NOT keep isotopes in stock. All isotopes are produced fresh in a Nuclear Reactor and shipped directly to you from the NRC licensed isotope manufacturer. - SORRY, NO INTERNATIONAL SALES OF RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPES - We can only ship isotopes to addresses within the United States. I'm sure the shipping restrictions wouldn't cause too many issues for someone on a mission Polonium 210 is $69.99 http://www.unitednuclear.com/isotopes.htm
Matt H
Thats mad!!! they seem to take the business of selling deadly stuff seriously too in relation to customer service "in order that your radioative item gets to you as as close to the weight as sold (half life related) we will only make them when ordered!!) its bloody discusting too! how could anybody make a business out of selling extremely dangerous substance to the public?!?! they must be inhuman
Thorin
I have some stupidly powerful magnets from them, they did a deal on a sample set of different ones and I bought some on impulse. The warnings on some of them are well advised! They also sell Aerogel, tad expensive though. edit: looking on there now it's actually a hell of a lot cheaper, was around $100 for the smallest sample at one point I believe! RobSheffield
I bought my uranium 235 and reactor from them
Prof. Monkey
ha ha you only have fuel grade uranium!
RobSheffield
My reactor is in Russia, they dont care about these kind of technicalities
RedM
Nic can get it cheaper but Lucifer has it in stock plus Haribo.
Jezz
I get my plutonium for the delorean from them. My MrFusions on the blink.

Thorin
plus Haribo. Mmmmm, irradiated Haribo.
Prof. Monkey
you realise you all have sources of radioactivity in your fire detectors?
Kranz
Mmmmm, irradiated Haribo. At least you'd be able to find them in the dark!
Pixelfill
you realise you all have sources of radioactivity in your fire detectors? ooo I knew that. tends to be Americium though not Polonium Mike
Kranz
you realise you all have sources of radioactivity in your fire detectors? Smoke alarms ??? Mine says its Americium 241 0.9 micro CI..... what happens if I eat it then? Edit: Now I've pulled it off the ceiling I'll have to go and fix it back on. Where's my no more nails??? Pixelfill
Smoke alarms ??? Mine says its Americium 241 0.9 micro CI..... what happens if I eat it then? Edit: Now I've pulled it off the ceiling I'll have to go and fix it back on. Where's my no more nails??? It's still an alpha source, so I wouldn't eat it, probably take a little longer to act than Polonium but the results would probably be the same. Even swallowing the radioactive material from a smoke detector would not lead to significant internal absorption of Am-241, since the dioxide is insoluble. It will pass through the digestive tract, without delivering a significant radiation dose. (Americium-241 is however a potentially dangerous isotope if it is taken into the body in soluble form. It decays by both alpha activity and gamma emissions and it would concentrate in the skeleton.) Mike
Prof. Monkey
Alpha sources generally such as that emmited by Am are stopped by the skin... Dont eat it though, god that would be funny as well as dangerous. I particularly enjoy thinking that I am now sterile after using an NMR for months! Konrad
Let's see when some ivul MI151436 agency will spot you joking about Pollonium or w/e it is called and you will feel tha pain!

hob
how could anybody make a business out of selling extremely dangerous substance to the public?!?! they must be inhuman Do you have a smoke alarm? Radioactive substances are everywhere, just like cars, if I used my car to run someone over should we no longer sell cars to the general public? hogmaw
We had radioactive stuff in school to demonstrate radioactivity during physics with a geiger counter etc so it's probably available in EVERY school in the uk!
