Matt H
Just found this on the web and remembered all the other posts that have come up about this topic from others. Hopefully this may help some people if they want to go about claiming back any charges they have recieved. http://www.robertsonholbrook.co.uk/ Seems like a really good deal (possible too good, but im always very wary!) but simply put: You get 100% of your money back from what you were charged over the last 6 years, and the solicitors get the interest that your money could have otherwise made. Seem like a good deal.... Any opinions?
Havard
Sounds too good to be true! Personally I don't trust any of these cnuts. But if you get it in writing I can't see why not. A mate of mine has a similar thing with his income tax. These accountants looked into his tax for the last ten years and got him a cheque for £1500 in overpaid taxes. They then took 30%. Still reasonable as I guess you would have to kick the bucket before you have a chance of getting it back. H.

Im not sure what the interest would be on say £28 over 6 years, cant see it being that much but the best thing about this deal is you get the money you are due, nothing more nothing less, because lets face it, if the bank hadnt have taken it you would have spent it any way, so its not like you would have ever made any interest! i-macca
Do it yourselves! I just did and get a very significant 4-figure sum back from my bank for the last six years, and kept the £600 interest that I was also entitled to. Go to http://www.consumercorner.co.uk, the guys there were very helpful and supportive. Worth every minute of time it took!

wHIZz
DIY it http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/ Yep - I'll second that, already claimed over 4 figures back from 3 banks. Takes a little effort but well worth it!!

Same site I used for mine, got £3k back from the Natwest, and about £800 of that was interest which you would be paying the company posted in the original post, rip off for something that is well simple to do and really does not take that much time. Mine case was even covered on ITV Meridian News last night and can be viewed on line at http://www2.meridiantv.com/itvlocal/index.htm look for the story entitled Bank Victory in the Portsmouth news section. Do it yourself, it's a piece of cake.
Thorin
Dead easy, just went through my online banking and totted up all the charges then sent off the template letter to the bank and a couple of weeks later they refunded it all. JonW
I did this myself as well and got around a grand back. Used the template letters on consumercorner.co.uk.
Guest blueangel
If you write to the bank do they actually give you a total of how much yhey have taken off you or do you have to total it up yourself. The bank must owe me a fortune in charges upto now

You make it sound so so easy.... is it really that easy or do the banks try hard not to pay you back? Is this for business accounts or personal accounts or both? i-macca
It really is that easy, there are plenty of people who will help too. The banks will try and throw you off the scent a couple of times (mine and their solicitors did), but if you stand your ground they will pay up. They know they have to as it is your right to get the money back!

The bank must owe me a fortune in charges upto now You have to do it yourself. You can go back 6 years, if it goes to court you get to add 8% interest per annum per charge as well. If you don't have all your statements, there is also a letter on consumercorner to request back all your statements under the data protection act, costs a tenner to do, the banks will try and charge you £3 per statement if you don't go down the DPA route. They also provide a spreadsheet template for you that works out all the interest etc for you.

veilsideTT
What exactly can you claim back I have an agreed business overdraft that ive been charged interest on before. Surely if its agreed then i cant claim it back? Or can i? Scott
Pot
So, to get this right, if you've gone over your authorised overdraft, for any reason (Bounced DD's, standing orders, bank charges), and they've charged you for it, you can claim the ££ back?... And they have to give it to you?...
i-macca
Scott, I don't think so no as it was agreed and you're paying interest on a service. What isn't a service is them charging you for going over the overdraft or payments being bounced. Pot, Yes basically you're spot on there. I claimed back for every time they charged me for exceding my agreed overdraft limit every charge for every bounced direct debit etc. And yes, if you read up, they have to give it back as they are in the wrong by charging you in the first place. They will try and contest it but you are in the right!

I'm certainly going to be doing this, as I'll be looking at a few £k (£3-4 at a quick guess) - I suppose the next thing to decide will be to do it myself, and keep the interest, or to let the solicitor company do it and let them take the interest... Guest gzaerojon
i just went through my statements, i found just over a grand of charges i've written the letter and i'll be sending it in the morning by recorded delivery (looks more official imo)
i-macca
Always best to send it recorded anyway, that way they can't slime out and say it went missing on the way there (they do try it to get themselves more time and hope you go away).
