Another Quik Fit Rant!

I know there is another Thread on this already, but this pissed me off so much I just wanted to put it in mine own thread.

I have perminant grinding/squeaking noise coming from the near side rear brake so I naturally assumed it was either a warped caliper, worn pad, seised brake caliper or something. So I decided to quickly drop into the nearby quik fit in lancaster to see if they could take a quick look to see what the problem was. After waiting for literally 10 mins whilst the guy is checking out the tyres on a the car of a very attractive blonde in her mid 20's, taking way too long checking the tread on each tyre, I mean he was literally inspecting every inch of each tyre, he slunks back into the little office waiting area they have. After waiting another 5 mins whilst he mashes the computer with his sausage fingers i start to think about leaving, but then lucky me he decides to serve me. Ask him to check the brakes and I get this response. Bear in mind its not even lunch time on a saturday and there a 4 grease monkey standing around pretending to know what they are doing but basically doing nothing. He asks what car I have, so i tell him its a supra and he gives me this look as to say " I hate you with every inch of my body". He then tells me he doesnt have time to look at the brakes becuase they are very busy but literally grabbing the keys off me, tells me to come back mid next week and they should have had a "look" by then as they cannot take a look without stripping down the whole breaking system!

Needless to say I grabbed the keys back out of his hands, laughed and walked out very pissed off.

what an absolute joke!

My girlfriend Jo works opposite a Kwik Fit centre, you don't want to see what goes on with the sportier cars that owners leave there  I think the fitters mistake the trading estate for a test track :(

If I worked opposite I would film them and hand the unfortunate car owners a copy of the tape each time :D

jack the car up mate and see if you can turn the rear wheels freely or not.

iirc it's not uncommon for rear calipers to start binding thus requiring a refurb or replacement caliper.

ps

i have a refurb kit if you want it? £6 posted :)

Just reach under the back of the car and pull the heatshield away from the disk a bit, its only a thin piece of metal, and its easy to catch when changing a wheel and knock it into contact with the disc. If that doesn't cure it, you'll probably need to strip the caliper and clean/refurb it.
