Mike
Never heard of the chap, but was the reason he campaigned so hard BECAUSE he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer Nope.. he didn't campaign as such.. he wrote a book about how to give up smoking and basically said smoking is not addictive, and that it's the tobacco manufacturers, the government and the media that put this message out because it benefits them with revenue, taxs etc.... no smoking days, nicotine patches and the chewing gum is all provided to keep you smoking... Anyone can stop, it's just mind over matter...
garetheves
Heard about this on the news earlier and although it isnt a laughing matter, one quote on the radio did make me giggle a little. He used to smoke 100 a day before giving up and becoming an inspiration to others and helped them give up also, he set up clinic where people could go and this woman on the radio said that working in those smoke filled clinics every day probably caused the lung cancer....Oh so the 100 a day he used to smoke was purely a coincidence. JustGav
How can you possibily smoke 100 a day....that is just incredible, I thought 20 was excessive... Assuming an 18 hour day.... That works out to be one every ten minutes.....

Konrad
I think he was somehow right with non addictive cigarettess - I quited smoking like 3 months ago, had absolutelly no problem with dropping cigs, only thing I could say was annoying was looking on other smokers and envy them because "they had something to do ". Got rid of this with mint gums Edit: I used to smoke around 20 rollers a day - dark tobacco only (15 years)
