hiten55 Posted November 28, 2006 Share Posted November 28, 2006 Guys has anyone come across this before? ocassionally, when parked up or at a standstill, if i turn the wheel i get a strange knocking / rubbing sound comming from the front left wheel. it happens in both directions, left and right, and happens after about 2 full turns of the steering wheel. if the cars parked on a camber it wont happen, only on level ground. and if the cars moving at low speeds (id say 10mph or even less) and i turn the wheel it doesnt happen. im stumped, its not the tyre rubbing on the arches but thats the kind of feeling i get from the wheel. my mates a mechaninc and recons its not the cv joint. ive checked the power steering fluid and it seems ok. im running out of ideas. its not major and doesnt happen too often, but im a bit curious as to what it is..... Only front wheel drive cars have cv joints at the front. Its difficult to say without hearing it, any chance of recording it and posting the noise. NUTKIN Posted November 30, 2006 Share Posted November 30, 2006 Has it got bigger wheels on it becuse it could be the wheel rubbing on the inner arch which would be the rubbin noise an the plastic catchin which could be the nockin noise. I dont really know why but the nearside on cars sits generally lower than the drivers which is why it would make the noise on the nearside first. (JUST A THOUGHT) Hi Mate, nah i thought that at first, infact i was hoping it's that. but its not its got 17's on it but they clear the inner arches, just. any more suggestions? i'll be jacking it up next weekend to fit new brake pads so i wanna know what else to look for apart from the roll bar/droplink bushes that Trick TT suggested.
