Rolling or shaving the arches??

Mas

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I know its been asked before but couldnt find the exact answer I was looking for:

going to fit some 285/35/18's at the back and 255's front sometimes next week

1- shall I shave the arches or roll them?

2- who and where is the right person to do it for me, I heard of few peoples but can't find any details about them to get hold of them?

Thanks in advance guys

You shouldn't need to anything mate.

I've got 19's with 245/35 on the front and 275/30 on the rear of my lowered Supra and didn't do anything to the arches and dont have any problems at all.

It really depends on the width and offset of the wheels, rather than the diameter.

Thanks John, Im hopping I wont need them done either.

Mas, I'd fit the wheels first and then see if they rub.

I think with the sizes/offsets you've got, you may be okay without getting them done.

ps. have the other 2 wheels arrived yet?

Hi Nic, No still havent got the other 2, but they left HK on 28th last month so hopefully be here by weekend.

Hoping the arches wont need any thing, but as Im going to lower the car with my TEIN's to the lowest possible, thought better make sure how to get round the problem if there were any.

I've got the same size tyres on mine Mas, although 245's at the front. Fronts are fine but i had to get the rear arches shaved, cost £50.

I was advised shaving was better than rolling as there is a lot that can be shaved off the rear arch, and if done properly there will be no risk of having to get them sprayed, as rolling can easily crack the paint.

But as Nic, has said, get em fitted and then see, as its all down to offsets. My rears were rubbing even if i went round a roundabout at 10 mph!

Thanks mate, I will get them fitted and if were unlucky and they were rubbing then I need to sort them out, £50 sounds very good if its been done properly, where did you get them dome mate?

I did mine the other day with a cheapo b&q grinder.. it ws easy took 10 min per arch and then i sprayed the exposed metal to protect:)

Nice one Jamie, do you fancy doing mine for £20 plus pint of stella :D

Another vote for shaving the arches. Got mine done at GVN: http://www.gvncoachworks.com/ - Highly recommended :)

Thaks for the GVN website mate, I tried to find it but forgot their name, was keep typing GNV in the search engine :)
