Laptop advice - again

Hello technically minded peeps :)

After the disaster that was two broken screens on my sons laptops, I have been looking for budget priced replacements (yes, I need to buy 2) as Xmas presents. They only use the laptops for browsing and downloading music, MSN an homework type things. they never use them for games or anything like that.

With that in mind, does this look good value at £355? It is a clearance item but would seem to do the trick.

What do you folks thing?

Those ones will take up to 2GB, 2 slots available so the max you can run is 2x 1GB - in my opinion adding another 512mb will probably be enough.

The stuff you want is DDR PC3200 or DDR PC2700, expect to pay anything between £10 > £40 for it on eBay, the top end of that from the shops.

Make sure it's 1 x 512mb you buy, some sellers list an auction for 512mb and it ends up being 2 x 256mb

Look good VFM, but it is a rework (old unit repaired for resale). I'd want to know what CD grade C means.

Reworks usually have a 3 month warranty too - so check that out.

Acer have had some warranty and support issues of recent though to a point where we're refusing to sell them at the moment.

We're an Acer Point reseller.

CJ my friend - go to http://www.ebuyer.co.uk and find laptop like your first shot without any clearance, proper guarantee and only around 10 pounds more expensive. Ebuyer is fine shop to buy, when I used to repair computers and build new ones I spent there around 12k pounds on parts and laptops for customers - also tested their responce to complains about damaged stuff (1 mainboard in 1 year time) and in 7 days I got new one (7 days from time i sent board to getting new one).
