silvershark44
Wow, just read through all this tech jargon and was wondering; whats over clocking?! overclocking is like tuning your computer to be faster like you would tune your supra to go faster

colsoop
Here is the budget gaming rig i am putting together at the moment : core 2 duo 6400 Gigabyte s775 mobo Gainward 7900 GS Corsair ddr2 6400 (1gb) I chose this as i have a very limited budget but the components are known good overclockers. The cost, a grand total of £428 + power supply (i haven't decided which yet)

I've got the MSI 965i Platinum and it rocks It's cheaper too. The P965 chipset is the one to get the 975 isn't as up-to-date despite the misleading numbering. Alex
My 650w Coolmaster PSU was about £50 and it's highly efficient. Instead of electrical energy being converted to heat...it turns it into electricity for the PC!!! It actually pays to buy a good PSU, I've gone from a 500w value one to a 650w quality one and the heat output and therefore efficiency couldn't be more stark! Ric
Probably E-MU or M-Audio? Both do some good audiophile stuff, M-Audio probably at the cheaper end. http://www.emu.com/products/welcome.asp?category=505 http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=pciinterfaces Yes he uses a M-Audio unit

I can vouch for that my PC is running an Asus A8N SLI board and my girlfriends has a Gigabyte the only other difference in our PC's is that she has a X2 4800 and I have a 4400 (overclocked to 3.0ghz). However her PC will randomly crash when playing Everquest 2 where as mine will run all day long. The only thing I have narrowed it down to is the motherboard as there is sod all else on the her PC apart from EQ2 and drivers

Alex
Thanks for the tip i am looking at the reviews of MSI now It got Editors choice on tomshardware.com just after I bought it... It's not the absolute bee's knees whizzo bang one...it's the one that just does the damn job. My system is the MSI P965i Platinum Intel C2DE6600 2x Corsair 1Gb CL4 RAM MSI 7900GTO 512Mb PCI-E I'm a bit concerned about the 7900GTO...Ian C's 7950 just absolutely trashed it in any test other than 3D complex....and they are supposed to be very similar. Daston
Depends on what 7950 it is if its the 1gb version then yeah it will eat the 7900 as it is effect 2 7900's stuck together.

No it's the 7950GT single chip unit for £225. 512Mb one. Basically exactly the same but the new midrange chip and not a downgraded GTX...the 7900GTO should (being GTX architecture) be equal or better at all tests. You were thinking of the 7950GX2...
