RedM
I'll shortly be having to travel 'darn sarf' on a Friday afternoon. I'll mostly be using the M1 but I'd like, if possible, to avoid the M25. Ideally I'd come off the M1 before that crappy 40mph average speed section and travel west of London. Does anyone in this area have a route suggestion? My ultimate destination will be Worthing.
Thorin
I've have suggested staying at home instead, or get the train
RedM
It takes longer by train than to drive. It's London and having to get on the Tube then another train that slows it all down. Trust me, I'm an expert on this. I can do door to door in about four hours on average. Never did it in less than five by train.

RedM
I was looking at going over to Oxford. It's the bit after that tends to ruin it. It's a case of going right down near Southampton or cutting across country on unfamiliar A and B roads. I wish I could find an online route planner that could add up the total miles of roads I choose not just the fastest or shortest. Oh, and Jon. I'll be in West Worthing. I might try to convince my other half that popping out for a paper does not mean I'm going to see a fellow Supra owner.

DaveK
Fridays and the M25 are a pita... i suggest get a motorbike;) Before she moved here, my g/f lived in Cannes and used to fly over every couple of weeks for the weekend - her plane would land about 7pm in Luton. One Friday, I left Surrey at 4pm - one hour before her plane left Nice - and by the time I arrived at Luton airport (52 miles away) she was drinking coffee at one of the cafe's waiting for me. Our roads are seriously crap.
