Bob
Please tell me you didn't bid on it!? Think it was Redline magazine that did a rolling road test on one of the more expensive 'branded' electric superchargers out there on a 1.8 or 2.0 engine. As predicted by nearly everyone, when it was off it caused even more restriction in the airflow and lost power, but not as much as when it was switched on! Load of shite, almost as bad as the butchered tin cans that create 'vortex effects'!
Ric
have you not seen the video of the car with a leaf blower strapped to the intake of a civic? lol made an extra 15bhp on the rollers.
boombastictiger
Noo NOO noway did i bid on it...just wondering thats all..
Marty
The theory is correct, if it can push air in faster than it gets sucked in by the intake, it'll give you HP gains. But that ebay thing is pants!! waste of cash. its done here with a leaf blower... Click me to see
Daston
It was J-tuner they fitted one to an MR2 it made 162.8BHP with out it, with it fitted and turned on it made 159.8BHP and with it fitted and turned off it made 160.9BHP.
JamieP
A petrol drven leaf blower is a little different to that poxy electric thing powered by a 12v scaletric engine:D
Ric
it was an electric leaf blower but i suppose 240v is better than 12v
Marty
thing is, you've got sh*t loads of amps to play with when it comes to 12v, if you could get a decent 12v motor you could easily bang something up that worked but it'd be a lil bigger than that ebay crap
Kranz
There is an echarger that Renault were testing. I was hoping to het my hands on a pair, but I left that business. There's one available in the states that is a proper electric charger. Its got the power of at least a 3kw starter motor and isn't one of these boat hull ventilation fans that are on ebay. Edit: Here it is http://www.boosthead.com/product.php?id=18 Looks like its been through a proper testing and development process. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight_turbo_electric_supercharger/

Kranz
Very interesting!!!!!! You think it could work on a supra? Would work off boost to bring the turbo(s) on boost, much like Arnout's super/turbocharged project http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=19015
