front seat removal

Easy job mate.

1. make sure you have enough room either side of the car

2. use a 14mm (I think) socket to remove the two bolts at the front of the seat rails (push the seats all the way to the rear and remove the plastic cover first)

3. slide the seats all the way forwards and remove the rear two bolts (after removing the plastic covers) and return the seats to the upright position

4. on the drivers side tilt the seat backwards to look underneath it for the electrical connector - locate and disconnect

5. hold the seat by the headrest and base, tilt out to the side, pick it up and rotate to clear the door/car

job's a good 'un :) :)

As an update to this, my drivers seat seems to "knock" forward by 5mm or so under heavy braking.

I'll whip the old fella out tomorrow to have a look, but prior to that, is the movement normal?

I don't recall ever noticing it before

My drivers seat no longer knocks, but the RH side drive shaft works intermittantly now, and I can sort of shunt the seat forward, but to move it back I have to use the motor, which twists the seat as it only drives the LH side, then use a socket on the 12mm nut on the end of the RH shaft to hand crank it back, bit by bit, repeating the above.

Not ideal !

Anyone had any experiance of this, could it be the gear of the electric motor?
