Ian W
have just found out i'm 99% gonna be unemployed come Christmas not the best time of year to find out at all, so as well as being Supra-less i'm going to be job-less
Supragal
I take it you mean theres a 99% chance of being unemployed? Yay, join the club. It's great. Lie in every morning, you get to go to the Jobcentreplus to sign on and get surrounded by more pikeys then you've ever seen in your life. It's all good. Seriously though, if you think that then start looking now. Rat, sinking ship.

Rat, sinking ship. have been looking for the past few weeks, Rosie can't wait to be visiting the jobcentre!! oh, and yes there's a 99% percent chance of me being unemployed rather than 1% of me still having a job. christ i'll never get a job with grammar like that! One of our branches in Cheltenham is due to close down apparently and there'll be hundreds of jobs losses. never good news at the best of times, let alone Christmas. What line of work do you work in? Sheefa
Bollard cleaner mate! £50k+ or whatever the hype has been in the press recently. Surely you're in a strong position mate. Seems like you've got some decent experience and a decent degree under your belt. Though abaout Grad schemes with EDS or the like? Perfect time for a new job if you ask me! No, you are not qualified enough to be a binman, have you seen their wages, something like 14K. How about being a train driver ?
Sheefa
How can anyone afford a Supra without a job I don't know, then again it's not like you chose it to be that way! I have a £14k loan and around circa £3k on credit cards, a job loss would cause me to become financially bankrupt me thinks.

KaoriFan
Job centres are a pain in the butt, or at least the Governments rules on how they operate. if you are unemployed and seriously can't afford to work for some of the low wages that are on offer, you are stuffed. when i was actively unemployed i was told i had to take whatever job they offered me even if it was 1(pound) a week more than Jobseekers allowance. it is crazy, they want people into work, but if you have mortgage and any other outgoings there is no incentive to work for a low wage. not sure if it is still the same, but they can force you to do any job they have listed. i used to work doing historical planning gis/database. i was not on great wages, but worked all the time. then you used to see other people that were on higher wages etc, just spending time calling their mum for 30 minutes, or generally not being productive >_
Supragal
Join the club. I've got my first JobCentrePlus interview tomorrow. All I'm after is my contributions paying. How do I tell them that I'm not interested in a new job until the New Year? Oh my God it's awful. Big posters "Yes YOU can get a job!" *uck about. Dirty children and parents sat about. Made me wonder if they or their kids has washed recently. I looked at my payslips and I was paying about £70 a week in NI contributions, they tell me that I might get around £55 in jobseekers allowance. Sorry what? That's the same as all these cretins in here that clearly have never paid a penny in NI contributions their whole life because they are fat and lazy?? Anyway, they practically call you a liar to your face. She asked me how many jobs I'd applied for, I said: "120 in the last 4 weeks". She looked at me and said: "I'll put down 6 a week" "err but I have applied for like 25 a week?" "Well thats a lot... are you sure you've applied for that many?" I look at her "Well I can put down 25 if you like?" "Yes, as that is how many I'm applied for" Then she goes onto say that when I go in next week I have to take evidence of the jobs I've applied for. So I said I'd just print off my spreadsheet. "Oh no, we don't want reams of paper, just a couple" WHAT?!?!?! It's unreal. AND to think that when my sister had an accident and couldn't work she had to claim jobseekers- they made her pay it all back once she her case was through court!!!! Mother fu....s
Supragal
not sure if it is still the same, but they can force you to do any job they have listed. No, they can't anymore. THey can't make you take a job you don't want and they can only expect you to apply to ones on a 'comparable wage' to your previous job. I am clearing off to Japan then, hopefully for good

I'll look after it:d nice try it was a present from my gran so don't want 'them' to think i can just go and spend it when other people sponge of the NI contributions that folk like us have made for years. I didn't know about the rule when I went in to speak to somebody at the job centre about signing on, so didn't think anything of mentioning the savings when they asked. Big mistake. I would suggest transferring it over to a relative for the time being.
ivan
I was led to believe that savings over 16k made a difference, not 3k...
