blitz supra
Dropped my lad off Sunday at my mate the importer for his Sunday job ( He's 13 yrs old and its a boys dream come true all those modded Jap cars!!) he's a total Jap freak.. just like his dad!! Anyway a stunning black Skyline R33 GTS with GTR bodykit on .. caught my eye and drew me too it... It was absolutley mint to the point the inside looks like no one has ever sat in it ... a real beauty of a car I was tempted!! So come monday i thought i'd out of interest get a insurance quote.. I thought i'd be looking at around another £60.00 a year, What followed totally amazed me. I was quoted another £296.00 extra for my final 6mths of my policy, now bear in mind I only pay £297.00 f/comp protected for my Supra!! Talkng to the lady at my insurance company apparantly the Supra is a grp 26 and the Skyline is a 36,and it doesn't matter if its a GTR or GTS all grouped the same, I asked why so high as the Supra is not particularly loaded , Her answer was statsicially Skylines are written off within the first 3 mths of ownership, and the problem is ebay.. You get the younger wanna be drifters buying one off ebay for about £5000 happy to pay the £2000 TPFT premium on installments but never get passed 3 mths, So where does that leave us older more sensible drivers? I thought this was strange as a TT is powerful and if anything more of animal to drive in the wet etc but strangley they don't see it as such a risk... I suppose its just statistics at the end of the day, Well that blew my dream out of the window... no way was i going to pay treble my insurance, It was that mint i was seriously tempted.. it was good .. but not that good
Soop Dogg
I work in insurance and the Skyline is heavily loaded because there wasn't an equivalent UK model, so spares have to come half way across the world making them very expensive to repair. Bet you get cheap insurance in the TT then . Yep suppose the Parts issue also loads it too..
Jake
I only pay £297.00 f/comp protected for my Supra!! How come it's so cheap? I pay a lot more than that for a fairly standard (just wheels) TT. I pay about £450-500. We're similar ages. I suppose its just statistics at the end of the day If it's based on stats then it shouldn't affect us if younger guys are smashimg up their cars. The premium should be loaded for younger drivers that are the higher risk. Changing from one car to another mid-policy is usually expensive just because they know you ain't likely to drop your existing policy and shop around elsewhere. cashpoint
if i was paying £600 for a skyline i would call that the deal of the century! I must have a deal then as A-Plan changed my insurance from the EVO to my GTR with no charge not even admin fee. It's still £185 more than my supra was and the supra was newer more expensive and had all it's mods declared.
Daston
The skylines tend to be stolen more as well and then shipped to russia. So if you want a cheap skyline have a look on Russia Ebay.....if they have it
blitz supra
The skylines tend to be stolen more as well and then shipped to russia. So if you want a cheap skyline have a look on Russia Ebay.....if they have it too right Iwas talkng about this with my mate the importer at the weekend, He discovered this on his last trip out there, His buyer was explaining the Russians are pretty much buying up all the imports out in Japan at the moment in huge quantites, causing a few headaches for importers both in price and availability of certain cars now, Price increases are not so much effecting the car prices but lost profit for them. Cable
It was £1800 to insure my GTR when I had it and I've got a quote for my Supra at £900 with more power. Go figure...

What did you get in the end Paul as not seen you for a while, you still had the Evo R32 /3 or 4 ? You are local to me, if you are on the look out for someone to look after it for you pm me and i'll give you my mates number and details, Basically come new year he is going back to his roots and not bothering bringing in alot of imports but specialising in Skylines again, (he was one of the first to import them 15 yrs ago into the UK) he will source other cars to order if the demand is there though Anyway he is going to keep about 35 Skylines in stock at anytime and all will be modded upto a std benchmark reliable 400bhp, he's in talks with Red Dot etc etc for Mapping / rolling road / brake upgrades etc etc so they all have a slice of the action, He has full w/shop facilities and trained techs, Labour rates are fantastic too (family business) so no bulls++t
