CardiffSupra
My car has only had 2 oil changes in the last 12months, Im looking to give her a full service in the coming weeks, What should i expect from a full service? What should be done to keep the car running smooth and healthy? Cheers.
Rayman
Depends i think on whether you are planning on going with the toyota service intervals or not? Me personally am just getting everything major changed at once and then starting from then on with the timeline on each item im changing, like oil every 4.5K etc I will be changing:- Both belts Oil Oil filter Fuel filter Coolant Pas fluid Autobox fluid Brake fluid Diff oil Plugs Think ive missed something but i dunno, the A/B services are good to follow tho as there are bits that need to be checked too etc! downimpact
more importantly where are you trusting to do it? Are you providing the fluids as well? Otherwise they can put any old stuff in
Rayman
well yeh im providing the items myself for that reason, they could still swipe my item and not change it tho. Whichever way you do something if someone wants to rip you off they will. Im hoping tho by using traders with good reputations i will be okay! am gonna use Mkivstore or HyperSR so shud be ok! Anyway you can check nearly all of the fluids to see if theyve been changed, only diff oil ,plugs and fuel filter i cudnt check to see if its been changed. CardiffSupra
What format is that file? It's all a mess when i open it with wordpad.
milocoon
Use Adobe Acrobat reader its a pdf file that youve downloaded or use Word to open a .pdf file ! It`s free to download ! If you want to save some money buy some discounted OEM Toyota parts and supply them to your servicing garage , they`ll still make money on the labour ! mathew
any ideas where abouts you are taking tours cardiffsupra? i want a full service done on mine but not really sure where to take it and who to trust.
milocoon
Oil and Filter change (the important bit) is a DIY. Buy quality oil and a std Toyota Oil Filter and you can`t go wrong. Search the forum and its all here, take the battery out and remove the oil filter from above ! I apologise to all the UK Japanese as they don`t need to remove the battery due to their small arms / hands !

Can you drain the oil from above or does it come out of the oil filter part when you remove it?
milocoon
Put the jack under the drivers door sill and elevate, the oil drain plug is on that side of the car, dead easy. The oil filter on the other side is the contorsionists nightmare but I`m 6 feet tall with XL hands and can do it. If its tight then use a piece of wood and hit it anti-clockwise as viewed from above. Use hand pressure only to tighten after smearing the oil filter o ring with fresh oil. A TT will need 5 ltrs (I use Silkolene Fully Synthetic Racing Oil from Opie Oils - it`s not cheap and I don`t actually race the car but it`s called engine insurance !) Use a new sump plug washer only about 91p each from Mr T (might be a pre-order so check) Part No 90430-12031

milocoon
Rayman about a year ago I was a Newby / Newbee so I`m passing on what I`ve learnt, for a tenner a year its the best investment you will ever make. You are welcome to contact me directly (PM) or by forum at any time (weekends are when U start things and get stuck ) this applies to anyone else reading this thread BTW I also have experience of RLTC installation and know about speedometer conversion wiring and where it should be wired. Cheers
Rayman
Absolutly, i agree, its the best 10er youll spend on your supra. It will certainly save me some labour changing my own oil! Thanks
Mike M
Can really recommend getting the cambelt, tensioner and crank pully replaced if it's not been done for a while. Picked mine up tonight and it's silky smooth. I'm been doing pretty much the same a Rayman, change everything then go from there.
Sheefa
I would love to do this myself, but a) I wouldn't know where to start and b) I certainly wouldn't trust my own work! Better IMHO to take it to a specialised mechanic like Chris Wilson and take it from there if you're looking for a full service mate. Yes you pay a premium, but by god does she run well! ......although mine's been out of action as I crashed her 8 weeks ago Good luck. Shaun.
IBetter IMHO to take it to a specialised mechanic like Chris Wilson and take it from there if you're looking for a full service mate. Yes you pay a premium I agree with you there Sheefa apart from the "Pay a premium" bit. I found Chris very competitive on my recent full service and I would advise anyone looking to give Chris a try as he is Mr Supra IMHO. Shaun.
