outatime
Not had much luck on ebay, so i'm after a basic laptop that runs Windows 98. It will be hooked up to our older CNC machines on the shop floor, so doesn't need to be anything special. As long as the A/C cable works and it is stable, it should be ok. Anyone got one lying around?
Supradan
hehe been there We hunted everywhere for an old slow laptop for running win 95 and hyperlink for our cnc robots at work, found one eventually. Are you having the same problem of missing data because modern computers are just too fast at transfers? :)
outatime
Partly, yes. It is more that the software to allow an XP based laptop to work with the CNC machines costs 20 times more than an old laptop.

DannyW
I could do with one as well Michael if you have some spare, just basic stuff like a CDROM drive and windows installed would be great.

outatime
Thanks everyone, if you could post or PM the condition/specs and what you are looking for price wise. We run a few multi-axis machining centres, Traub and Hardinge. They are used for bar turning and we are looking for a couple more in the near future, sliders probably. Barry
Guys, I have an old HP 'something?' laptop sitting at home that I'm never going to use. The only problem is, I don't have a cd drive for it and there is no operating sys installed. EDIT: Scrap that, I think I did find a drive but it had a fit when I tried to install XP, will check again this evening as it was so long ago now!!! But, it does have a power supply, and boots to bios, and can be yours for the price of the postage. ;-)
