dangerous brain
Well as a 30 ish guy and someone that knows you WSB2 I will say this much-: You really do seem to have an issue with your XR3i roots and think that everyone is lookin at you just cos of your age. This really isn't the case. Yes supra's have moved into the price bracket of a more youthfull market. A bit of film promotion has helped a bit I think. As many have said above the insurance (the free of which is what caused the saxo league) and the petrol costs and other perceived costs of ownership keeps the more undesireable element at bay. Yeah you will get muppets buying ropier cars from the likes of a certain trade centre and further thrashing them but I think these cars will stay in that circle as no-one from this board would buy these cars. On a whole though unless its a car you really really want then you just won't be able to justify buying one, after all the price of a brand spankers saxo or whatever its equivalent is- for a ten year old car is a hard thing to justify to the financially challenged (ie the majority of boy racer types). As far as you go WSB2 I think that you were a boy racer and bought the car you really wanted. It gave you a scare and now you respect it for the beasty it is. I think that anyone like you will do the same, they will learn or write off the motor simple;)
Syed Shah
The class of the Supra has fallen and continues to do so. But who cares? Why bother yourself with it? At the end of the day, no matter what group of people is associated with the car, it will still do what it has always done. The car will fade away and become rarer and rarer, not a concern to me. BigMoistyturbo
I must admit I have a slight complex about my age, but this is created by my fear of being labelled a barry boy. I bought a supra because I knew that not only was it a fine looking, powerful machine, but also because I loved how well engineered it is. I don't care if I see a barry boy driving one. I bought it because I get a smile the size of africa everytime I turn the key. It's my personal pleasure....what do I care if someone else has it? I must admit I love the attention the car brings me (at times), but the main reason we all love supra's is because they are more than a car...they are a daily experience! Every owners club in the world has good members and crap ones. All the people here paid £10 to talk to like minded ethusiasts and share a passion. So long live the supra! And long live this BBS!!! Whitesupraboy2
i guess i honestly started this thread, coz when i joined i was early 20's and to be honest thought i was 2 young to own such a lovely machine. I admit i was scared that the BBS would be offended by someone so young owning one. I guess i have grown up loads over last yr (car wise) as yes with my escort it has to be classed as 'boy racer'. But like DB says, the car needs respect and i learnt my lesson, luckerly not by pushing my luck but more through bad luck (cold night, just left home and positive something on the road) anyway i just wanted to know what people felt on younger drivers as a supra round ferndown way (gunmetal, big spoiler) always gives me sort of a dirty look

Every supra owner I've met has been really excited to meet a fellow owner!!! Get yourself to a meet (if you haven't already), it's good to meet other supra owners in the flesh (and metal)

This is the guy that gives you 'dirty looks', right? Maybe it's nothing to do with your age, maybe he just has no clue why you are waving at him. Just because he has a supra doesn't necessarily mean that he automatically feels an affiliation with every other person who drives the same type of car (it's a bit of a weird concept, really). Just a thought. Cliff
