Powder Coating

I have done a search but couldnt find what I need.

I've been playing about with Photoshop and decided I want wheels with black spokes and chrome rim. But I cant afford new ones. So have been looking for a company to power coat the spokes on my current set.

But because my wheels are a sort of fake split rim. They dont want the hassle of making sure nothing gets onto the chrome rims or the small details like the bolts etc. They want to do all or nothing.

Does anyone know of a place that might be willing to do such a job? Prefrably around the Essex area.

Cheers :)

I think i'm about the suffer a similar problem. Not sure if the rims really are split or just a faux version like above but according to the man at the tyre place i won't find anyone to refurb them in Scotland. Should check with Pete on what they are exactly...

Edd, if you are prepared to mask the areas you don't want coated then the powdercoater should be able to do it for you no problems.

Normal masking tape 2 or 3 layers thick will be good enough.

When the wheels come out the oven you will need some paint thinners or solvent to remove the glue from the masked areas.

Unfortunately my coater doesn't do wheels as his brothers company (lap tab) do and he doesn't want to compete.

I have had a set of wheels done by lap tab(have a look for a thread i started in multimedia a while back)and they do a good job.

If you told them what you are planning and mention you are masking it im sure they could sort it for you:
