VIL
I'm sure there are many threads about who and who does not like the latest Celica, so forgive me if this topic has been exhausted. But recently I have started taking more notice of the lnew Celica and I think I am starting to like it! When it came out I thought it was `odd` in every way and really did not like it, thinking it had gone the same way as the MR2 uuurrgghhh! I dont know what it is but i've seen a few recently with some nice styling and have to admit they look pretty good. Weird....
edd_t
i think they look ok but as stock the ride height looks too high and the wheels are too small.
Gerry
We have a couple around here that have been mildly "moded" ie spoiler etc and like you, I have given them a longer look as they go by than I used to. It's funny about some cars, when they first come out you think yuk, but after you see them for a while some grow on you. I will also share with you my theory about cars and looks (I know you just can't wait)... I think that cars with straight lines age far faster than "curvy" cars... To me the best looking "old" cars are E-types, Morgans, Healey's etc. all curvy type. In ten years from now I think the Supra will still look the dogs and the Celica with it's straight line styling will look old !
iain2010
I think they look good but ive heard rumours that they are a bit down on power.
Underworld
Hey I was thinking the same thing too. I've started to like the new celicas. I really loved the shape of the old gen 6 (used to have one), but the new ones have started to grow on me. Whats the most power you can see out of one? iain2010
Well i could be wrong but i think there are two. As standard 1 kicks out around 140BHP and the other 190BHP which is a little tame.
Mike
I started liking them when I saw that 200pmh Fensa(?) one...

iain2010
Yeah pretty sure they are NA, Fensport are using the mr2 turbo lump i think
Havard
We've had two in the past and although they were mega reliable and stuck to the road like shit to a blanket they were both really average when it came to performance. Lovely on the inside though and quite practical compared to the Supra. Shame you had to thrash them to within an inch of their lives to have any kind of drama!! H. Underworld
That fensport one is the NUTS. So nice. Whats more is the new celicas allow you to have a Toyota with modern trim insides! Woo..
Mike
Fensport? Yep, those the chappy's... apparently Mr T donated the car because he (like it's one person?) was so impressed with what they'd done previously... I read it in J-Tuner (I think) on the loo some months ago.......

Yeah thats it the styling is definatly a grower but they just dont do it in performance (In standard form)
mathew
i was thinking of one of these just before gettin the supra. a nice gunmetal t-sport version. theres some really nice ones on the american celica site. some nice subtle mods, imo, can make them into real lookers. but like has been said the power isnt all that much and you have to drive them hard. silvershark44
if they were faster i would consider them, but with no GT-4 like power anymore, nah not for me. I had the old celica, was an awesome car, but really only a stop gap to a supra!
i-macca
I read it in J-Tuner (I think) on the loo some months ago....... I wouldn't believe everything you read in there, I know of some complete shit they've made up and printed of their own accord.. I hadn't heard that about the Corolla before, and Adrian certainly doesn't mention it on the website. The Fensport Celica has full GT-Four running gear in it, though highly modified now. Awesome bit of kit for a four-banger!
mathew
is that the navy blue celica?? if it is they ran a write up about in it max power a few months back. very nice
KaoriFan
watching Celica's years ago in the rallying was what got me hooked on the wonderful Supra's down the line.
