markrzs
I'm thinking of buying the Samsung LE32R74BDX ( see pic ) and the Sony WM250B active subwoofer ( see pic ). Would both of these items connect up and work properly ? I've not a clue when it comes to things like this but heard both these products are good, any help much appreciated ! DaveK
The Samsung is the TV surely? I wouldn't expect the sub to connect to the TV. Usually they connect to a dedicated surround sound receiver, or the DVD player. Have you got surround sound stuff already? I wouldn't bother with a sub without having a surround system. You've reminded me - I must put my speakers on Ebay. In fact I might jump straight to the For Sale section here and stick them on there! imi
No my friend, you will need to buy the associated Amp package for the Sub. I have the same TV and surround sound package combo (has the same sub as in your pic, only silver).
far
I would suggest an AV receiver and surround sound speakers, 5.1 or higher, imo 5.1 works well enough for me. I have the following with Sky, DVD player and PS2 alll connected to the AV reciever: http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=YAMA-NSP110 http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=YAMA-RXV359&SID=1a68a61cd3839aa9d2173d92fe98bab9 Works really well and gives you good bang for very little bucks, my bro in law has a 2k Bose set up and tbh there aint that much difference between the two unless you really crank it up and stand in the middle. Once you have the speakers and AV receiver its fairly simple to connect everything together
far
.......oh btw Richer sounds will price match to online prices so look up the equipment you want and print it off for them before you go in! To connect the dvd you will need coax cable x1 The sky box has 'RCA out' you will need good quality RCA cable which connects to the AV receiver PS2 come with RCA (Yellow goes into TV, RED & WHITE into one of the audio inputs on the AV receiver
markrzs
cheers guys, the subwoofer aparently comes with a buit in amp if that makes a difference ?
far
dude without the rest of the speakers you will have a very unbalanced sound system. You really need to get the rest of the speakers and AV receiver. Can you give us an idea of what you are trying to achieve with your set up? markrzs
just something with a little punch really ? though it would sound good with a bit of bass don't really want alot of speakers like 5.1 etc
far
if you dont want a lot of speakers you may want to consider an 'all in one' unit (SOUND PROJECTORS) - it delivers the correct levels of sound and comes in one box - not as good as having the seperate speakers arranged in the right place but certainly better than having one sub and relying on the TV speakers for everthing else such as treble, mid range etc... With the set up you have shown above all you will achieve is bass heavy sound producing only low frequencies. Have a look at this: http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=YAMA-YSP800-SIL http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-YSP1000-digital-sound-projector-Brand-New-Boxed_W0QQitemZ140053810459QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14996QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
imi
just something with a little punch really ? though it would sound good with a bit of bass don't really want alot of speakers like 5.1 etc increase the bass on the TV, seriously its punchy enough. youll need a complete setup in order to enjoy the sub. markrzs
ok cheers for the help guys, i think i'm going to see what the tv sounds like before i go ahead with a 5.
colsoop
Do you have a hi fi at home ? Why not hook that up to the TV and postion the speakers accordingly. Then if you like the sound produced and when the budget allows invest in a standalone system (amps sub speakers)
