Please help - Central locking problem

Dear all,

I picked up my Supra yesterday :D

Sadly it has a couple of small problems.[sHOCK][/sHOCK]

The first is that the passenger side window does not open via either the passenger or drivers side switch.

The second is that the central locking does not work either via the button on the inside of the drivers door, the alarm or using a key in the drivers door (I have to walk round and lock both doors with a key)

Whilst neither problem will stop me enjoying my Supra if anybody has any ideas then that would be helpful, after shelling out for the Soop my funds to undertaken instant repairs are non-existent at the mo!

Please help a newbie!;)

I should have mentioned. Before he sold the car to me the interior clock wasn't working and the mechanic traced the fault back to a problem with a connection on the fuse box (I think that was the problem) Could the 2 be related?

If you look in the section marked "club downloads" you will find some wiring diagrams which might help you out.

As for the passenger window your going to have to remove the door card (easy) and check to see if the motor is getting any power when the switches are operated, maybe a plug has fell off, you never know.

As for central locking, for starters check the fuse.

Any more advice?

I have also noticed that on the electric window buttons the one for the drivers window has a small green light on top but the one for the passenger window does not. Could this be a fuse problem? Surely if one window stopped then they would both stop?

Have you followed the advice you've already had?

Did you check the central locking fuse?

Did you check the connector at the passenger window for power? If it gets power - your motor is knackered. If it doesn't get power, you have an electrical problem between the switch and the motor (e.g. connector / broken wire etc.).

Thanks for the advice.

I haven't attempted anything yet but wanted to see if there were any other possibilities before I start taking parts of my car apart!

How easy are the fuses to get to ? and where exactly are they?

On a completely seperate issue how easy is it to remove and replace highlights as mine are a lovely shade of yellow.

Thanks for all the advice so far

First - check the second button on the drivers side switch panel (has an icon of a window with a cross through it I think) if this is on/enabled then the passenger side window cannot be controlled from either of the window switches - so check that the button is not enabled and try it ;) BTW the drivers side window switch is the only one with a green light on it - so the passenger side sounds fine.

2. Central locking stuff - if the locking switch on the drivers side switch panel (next to the window lock one mentioned above) doesn't lock/unlock both doors then I would suggest that you have some dodgy wiring/connection.
