Tricky-Ricky
Just been browsing over on the GTR forum and came across a post on "what do you think the best Japanese performance engine" someone put the 2JZGTE second, well they would;) and this is his opinion, anyone agree or care to comment? "Quote" "Mycroft Registered User Join Date: Apr 2002 Location: Stop staring at me Senna! Posts: 3,501 Toyota 1JZ... the 2JZ is a 'stroked' version of the original motor and is neither strong or reliable when modded, the extended 'tall' block flexes badly, it also uses a lower standard of crank design compared to the original 1JZ [ask anyone about the seals on the 2JZ crank] The 1JZ will readily rev to nearly 10k on a standard crank. But the best engine to come out of japan though is NOT the 1JZ but in fact the 1UZ [V8] there are many reasons for this and I could write 20 pages on it but suffice to say that stands head and shoulders even over the 1JZ. __________________ You know crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire and all those damned freedom fighters? bondango
His best ever Post was the mycroft "track day mod" were he claimed that the TEMS suspension mod not only put the suspension to its hardest, but also switched the ECU to special track day maps!!! and stands by this even to this day! Good old Iain, think he's on the Porker Forums too lol
Jake
How do you mean 'back'? He's a regular poster on the GTR forum, ain't he?
Alex
Yeah he is... It's funny that he can just ignore all the 1000+HP examples of the 2JZ out there...

Tricky-Ricky
How do you mean 'back'? He's a regular poster on the GTR forum, ain't he? AFAIK he was banned on there, just like about 10 other forums.
Dragonball
A little abrasive at time to some (understatement) - but at least (sometimes) he had the wit to make it entertaining Let him back here JB if he wants...
Rayman
Yeh we have missed a new character on these forums since flat4/supraloopy and a couple have left us so sharply, maybe the new year will bring us a new one?
Dragonball
Ah - but the prerequisite it intelligence and wit m8... some are abrasive already enough without either

JohnA
I think forums could do with more Mycrofts. Instead they are flooded with 'ure rite their m8' (I'm on my own again on this one, eh? )
Thorin
Actually I think he's partly right, in some ways the 1JZ is a nicer engine... ...he's still a complete wanker.

Rob
Having since removed the crank pulley myself (with Marks tools) I'm reminded of his "drill a small hole and put a pin though it" idea for locking the pully. That was a long, long time ago though. Wonder if he still knows Justin?
Tricky-Ricky
I have always found him entertaining for both his logically insane engineering views:rolleyes: and for his deluded self righteousness, but yes he can be bloody annoying at times. JohnA
That's what's fun with Mycroft, trying to catch him out while he thinks he's God. Actually he doesn't think, he knows

Syed Shah
In stock form, the 1UZ is a FRAGILE engine. Refined, but weak. 2JZ > 1JZ. Spoken from someone who was spent more on each that Mycroft could dream of.
JohnA
I don't get this argument. The 1JZ is oversquare, so it is more refined and reliable because it has to rev higher to produce the same power? That would need some explaining...
